[SOLVED] - DOSBox controller mapping issue
-
I bought new controller and mapped it just like the old one. The only difference is that my new controller has 2 analog joysticks.
Apart from other keys, I mapped arrow keys to d-pad and 2 analog joysticks left unused. However, when I start random game via DOSBox, my d-pad does no react to anything and I have to use the left analog joystick instead. After closing the game, I checked my DOSBox mapping again and arrow keys are still mapped to d-pad.
All other emulators (nes, snes, psx, ...) use d-pad, also retropie menu uses it as expected. Obviously there is some issue with DOSBox mapping, I just don't understand why.

@Spiky i had to remove my analog settings in the dosbox keymap for the arrow keys to work.

@edmaul69 that's interesting. I will have to give it a try when I come home. Funny thing is when I mapped arrow keys to right analog joystick, both analog sticks became arrow keys.

@edmaul69 so I tried to remove analog settings, but it did not help. luckily I found this article http://www.dosbox.com/DOSBoxManual.html#Joystick which states:
If you want to remap anything to your d-pad/hat you will have to change 'joysticktype=auto' to 'joysticktype=fcs' in configuration file. Maybe this will be improved in the next dosbox version.
it fixed my problem and d-pad finally works.

@Spiky strange. It works for me on auto.
