Hi guys. would it be possible to enable HDMI-CEC in RetroPie? (CEC, is also known as Anynet+, BraviaLink, Easylink and a few other names. Its just the ability to control a device that is connected to your TV through HDMI, with the TV remote. For those that didn't know)

I've been running Kodi for a bit now through RetroPie and it's working really well. I have a second raspberry hooked onto the TV dedicated to Kodi, but as this is working through my RetroPie, I don't need the second raspberry anymore.

The only thing that is slightly annoying is that I have to grab my psx controller when I start my TV to get into Ports->Kodi. After launching, CEC pops in and I can use my TV remote. I was wondering/hoping, if I could use my TV remote in RetroPie so that I can scroll across to Ports and launch Kodi, without having to get my psx controller.

      Thanks

@Evert you conflate retropie with emulationstation. they are not the same thing. anyways emulationstation has a cec branch on the master but will require extra coding and source code changes to integrate. plus that branch is based on cec2 whereas the latest for jessie is cec3 (which is what kodi uses too)

Pretty much anything is possible with the magic of coding, just depends on if people have the skills and time to integrate it.

Thanks @herb_fargus . I indeed meant emulation station and not retropie.

I was hoping that it was something easy, but it sounds like there's a bot more to it and definitely above my skill set.

@Evert You can set the pi to boot straight into kodi, use your remote to your heart's content, then exit out into emulationstation when you want to play? It's in the retropie setup if I remember correctly.
