I was trying to setup ES on my PC at work (Windows 8.1) and after having some issues with the MV C++ stuff I finally got it sorted out and now I see this when I start ES.

Did anyone ever come across something like that?
I can navigate through it because I know the steps in the menu but there is not much visible that would allow to work with it.
I know it is not a RetroPie issue but there are a couple of guys in this forum that experiment, create themes with ES on Windows.
I tried various ES from forks up to bone stock Aloshi version all end up same.

I have ES on Windows 7 running at home without any issues so I don't think it is a PC language thing.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks

It's an old topic of mine but I fixed it and thought it might be a good idea to explain how to fix it and why it happened in the first place.

My company PC is running Windows 8.1 with Mobile Intel 4 Graphics card. If you use the graphics driver that Windows 8.1 automatically installs you will get that corrupted font view. Technically I don't know why it happens but it looks like that the graphics driver chosen by Windows 8.1 does not have the necessary functions to run ES or other applications like Minecraft or Angry Birds.
So what you need to do is down-grade your driver to an older Windows 7 version which is very well explained here.

Once you have applied the older driver all runs fine.

      Hope that helps.
