[RELEASE] Modern Theme for EmulationStation (RetroPie only)
-
@Rookervik Have you considered adding video support?
-
@Rookervik I did I don't know where Samba is
-
This post is deleted! -
Does anybody have any awesome background suggestions for this theme? I realize it might be easy to find on a quick google search but I thought that maybe you guys have found some unique ones.

This site has the background images from the Chromecast, I use them for the modern theme...as well as wallpapers
-
@lilbud
Yeah the Chromecast has some really cool wallpapers but since I now have a RPi with Kodi, I haven't even plugged in my Chromecast in ages! -
@Rookervik
Hey I setup a Carousel for Modern if you're interested, here's some screenshotshttp://imgur.com/sAU7ffN

I'm using IO's logos and consoles from the launchbox forum.
Let me know if your interested and I'll send you what I have. -
For those too lazy to click links:
-
@mattrixk
Thanks I couldn't figure out how to do that, which by the way how do you embed the links? -
@Syhles If you are on desktop there is a row of icons just above the WYSIWYG (the part you type in). The 6th icon looks like a picture of a landscape. Click that button and it inserts
![alt text](image url)
where your cursor is. Just paste the link to the image where it says "image url". (It has to be the image link, not the imgur page link). -
@mattrixk
Thanks, so would I right click the image on imgur to get the image link? -
@Syhles You can do that, or since it's your image you can go into your uploaded images section. When you click one of your images it opens in a lightbox and has a whole bunch of link options down the right hand side. You want the markdown link. Then just paste it into here (and add a "!" to the front of it).

@mattrixk
Thanks. -
Hi there,
This theme looks awesome and I would like to try it... I checked the posted link but it is dead :(
I believe there is a new version with the custom carousel but I can find the link to it.
Could you please share?Thanks in advance!
-
@netux
The link is indeed broken. Also I'm pretty sure the version with the carousel that you're referring to is the images that I posted. Which I have implemented on my personal copy of Modern, but Modern isn't my theme so no download link for that. -
@netux Hmm, I don't have Modern in my github repo. It wasn't a very popular theme (that I know of) so I let it slide under the radar. If you give me some time I will add it back to my repo. But I won't be making any changes to it. So no carousel changes or video previews. It's still a pretty theme, I think.
-
@Rookervik No problem, please let us know when it is available. Thanks!
-
@Rookervik wasn't popular cause it was never added to the theme installer ;)
-
Anyone having a copy of this available? Looks sleek.

I like the theme with the Carousel . I tried to make a theme myself, but I got a little lost. I am hoping to find a theme that is all set for a lot of systems. A theme like this that includes the Carousel having stuff like Odyssey², Tandy, Atari Lynx, a Famicom and NES, Super Famicom and SNES, Genesis and MegaDrive sections would be really neat.
Really great work all around though.
