      @AlexMurphy

      lol sorry for the wait

      i looked in to it and it seems the link with the two folders megadrive and genesis is not working. so when i change the es_systems.cfg it worked, but there was no games in the folder to come up.

      why its not working, no clue. but i copyed the games over from the genesis to megadrive and they all work and it comes up with genesis not megadrive

          <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ megadrive %ROM%</command>
          <platform>genesis</platform>
          <theme>genesis</theme>
        </system>

      if there is anything that is wrong i cant see it

        @ExarKunIv You showed me yours, so here's mine. I'm in Ireland, so we had the MegaDrive, so obviously mine is set as that.

          @ExarKunIv Do you have <system> at the start?

              @ExarKunIv There is another option... If you can only get the megadrive to show up simply copy the image files from the Genesis folder over to the Megadrive folder to overwrite them in whatever theme you use. It will still scrape the Megadrive box art etc, but the Genesis logo will be displayed in the ES menus. It's a shitty "hack" / workaround but it'll work, cosmetically at least.

                  do you have a copy of es_systems.cfg in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation ? if so that one overrides the retropie one. You should remove it if you want RetroPie to manage the systems.

                    I always thought the Genesis roms folder was just a shortcut to the megadrive folder. The genesis folder always had the shortcut arrow overlay on my SSH client. There's no need for separate folders unless you're splitting by region for some reason.

                        you are correct in that thinking, but somehow that link is broke on mine, so i just moved the files over and it works.

                          @ExarKunIv You should be able to re-make the symlink using ln -s <destination file or directory> <name of the symlink>
