        yes. i just missed that when i copied it

        so for right now im just going to copy it to the working folder and run with it. has long as i see what i would like then im not going to worry about it

          @ExarKunIv There is another option... If you can only get the megadrive to show up simply copy the image files from the Genesis folder over to the Megadrive folder to overwrite them in whatever theme you use. It will still scrape the Megadrive box art etc, but the Genesis logo will be displayed in the ES menus. It's a shitty "hack" / workaround but it'll work, cosmetically at least.

            right now just having all the roms in the megadrive folder it working. :)
            it works and thats all the matters

              do you have a copy of es_systems.cfg in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation ? if so that one overrides the retropie one. You should remove it if you want RetroPie to manage the systems.

                I always thought the Genesis roms folder was just a shortcut to the megadrive folder. The genesis folder always had the shortcut arrow overlay on my SSH client. There's no need for separate folders unless you're splitting by region for some reason.

                    you are correct in that thinking, but somehow that link is broke on mine, so i just moved the files over and it works.

                      @ExarKunIv You should be able to re-make the symlink using ln -s <destination file or directory> <name of the symlink>
