I hot glued a microsd extender to the expansion slot on the bottom, soldered a 128GB usb stick to a cart, and 4 wires from cart connector to usb. It's doable. My original thought was to have a microsd extender go to the cart but I was having too many issues reading despite soldering good connections. No problems with usb and it's only 4 wires too.

          Ok, that looks amazing.
One thing; is it just me or why are all of the SNES builds I see are the european versions?
          Oh wait...

But in all seriousness, is there an NTSC SNES build for the Raspberry Pi?

          Here is one: LINK

Ben Heck also did one :)

First I was thinking about putting a 1TB harddrive inside, it would fit perfectly but I'm not sure if it's healthy for the drive to be sideways. Also I would have to add more power probably.

Yea it's true I already thought a USB would be way easier!

What am I saying :P In a PS3 or XBOX one they are sideways too, after a quick google I found out it doesn't matter.

The biggest problem is that as soon as I add another HDD I get a lightning icon that my PI doesn't get enough power.

Great work ! Looks very clean and structured (Okaaaaaay, besides the hot glue sculpture in the upper right corner ;-) )

But what will you do with an 1TB HD in it ? You will never fill it completely with games, will you ? How about a smaller SSD (needs not that much of power) ?

              Again: Great work !

              Rgds,

              SK

                @denisuu: Okay, that looks awesome.

@SutterKane: They could be using it for Kodi, so they could load the hard drive with movies and such.

My ES themes: MetaPixel | Spare | Io | Indent

@SutterKane: Yea I mainly use this for downloading stuff and media center, since the RPI is silent and doesn't use much power.

It's like a perfect fit, but I need to find a solution to have the connection stick out. The hard drive is too tick to have it on top.

I wonder if heat might be an issue with the hdd inside that plastic...
If you're gonna watch stuff at home, why not just stream your media with kodi? I'm dualbooting with Rasplex because Kodi won't decode 10bit videos properly:/. Rasplex just transcodes what the pi won't run natively.

@Darksavior: It's mostly for using it as a permanent Deluge download center I would attach the HDD.

I don't think the heat would be too bad, since this HDD came out of an enclosure, I think the biggest problem would be fitting the connector.

I made the backplate gray and the sdcard is extended so this build is finished now :)

@itsnitro i made one for a friend of mine. I prefer the famicom/euro snes version myself. I also remember going into a game store and seeing super mario world on a super famicom before the super nes came out. That was a great moment that will stick with me forever.

@edmaul69 I also like the PAL one better! But I'm from Belgium so it also has more nostalgic value.

@denisuu i think the u.s. one is ugly compared to the euro/japanese one. Im not sure why there were so many systems that they changed in the u.s. The turbo grafx 16 was ugly as all hell. The pc engines were awesome. If we had a black version of the pc engine it would have been really cool. Instead we had a cool black cd with a weird adapter and the ugly console.

I can agree here. The famicon/euro one is more sleek while the american is more bulky.

@edmaul69 I was actually not even born when the SNES came out, so I never had one before. I was also very surprised to see there were 2 versions. I do love the old retro gaming machines a lot more then the new ones!
