    I used the right bios and roms, and when I boot up any atari 800 game, I get this message:
    "Sorry but you need a real Atari/OS"

    Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated. :)

      @BatmanFanatic123 Try a different BIOS file from another source.

        @BatmanFanatic123 Have you read this? https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Atari-800-and-5200/

        There are 5 main BIOS needed for the Atari800 emulator:
        ATARIXL.ROM (BIOS for Atari XL/XE OS)
        ATARIBAS.ROM (BIOS for the BASIC interpreter)
        ATARIOSA.ROM (BIOS for Atari 400/800 PAL)
        ATARIOSB.ROM (BIOS for Atari 400/800 NTSC)
        5200.rom (BIOS for the Atari 5200)
        Place these files in
        /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS

          @BatmanFanatic123 Its overly complicated. You are at the part where is says you need a real Atari bios. Just take a look a this video and see if it helps. Jump to 6min. Most of the first 6min is very simplistic information.

            Are these lines present in the atari800.cfg file ?

            ROM_OS_A_PAL=/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ATARIOSA.ROM
            ROM_OS_BB01R2=/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ATARIXL.ROM
            ROM_5200=/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/5200.ROM
            ROM_BASIC_C=/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ATARIBAS.ROM
            ROM_400/800_CUSTOM=/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ATARIOSB.ROM

            Are these files present in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS ?

            Also check if you have the correct files with the following md5 hashes:

            ATARIOSA.ROM EB1F32F5D9F382DB1BBFB8D7F9CB343A
            ATARIXL.ROM 06DAAC977823773A3EEA3422FD26A703
            5200.ROM 281F20EA4320404EC820FB7EC0693B38
            ATARIBAS.ROM 0BAC0C6A50104045D902DF4503A4C30B
            ATARIOSB.ROM A3E8D617C95D08031FE1B20D541434B2

              It says you need a keyboard, and that means u need a PC. I play them on a TV.

                Are you running on a tv natively ? or do you have a raspberry pi hooked up to your tv ?

                The atari800 emulator does not need a keyboard to function (altough it makes it a lot easier since joystick support is limited).
                There is an alternative atari800 binary with better joystick support here).

                  @anasazi29 Anyway to not have a 20 minute video to help with this? I try to watch, and I get distracted. I downloaded it through Retropie ... why does it not even work there?

                    @tim-mac

                    It's best to stay away from video tutorials anyway, as they become outdated often. Everything you need to get the system up and running is covered in the official documentation. If you have any questions about the specifics, or hit any roadblocks, post back and we'll try to help as best we can.

                    Also, if you do end up making a help request, make sure you detail the information requested at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
