I still for the life of me can't figure out why the buttons do not work in the RGUI. I may see if the adafruit guys that made the tutorial might know what is up.

I installed 4.2 yesterday and now within retro arch i can only use the directional up and down buttons. No other buttons seem to work with the keyboard. My ps3 controller works just fine.

Sorry to hear that but I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully we will get it figured out soon.

Can someone help a guy out! I would really like to be able to navigate the retroarch menu to change a few things but can't. Has anyone else had this issue?

                  Hey peeps.
Also reporting in. Having the same issue on multiple occasions. It works, then something happens and now it don't work. I can't imagine what i did that changed this. Even the editing the /all/ config wont change it. Even when changing the settings in Retroarch from the Attract Mode menu it doesn't work. Its like the emulator is taking up its own configs, but not from the folder it says it gets them from. Its odd.

Hoping we can find out what the issue is :) I'll keep you up to date if something happens.

Hey :) Sorry for the late reply. I have been able to fix it, but it has been about a week of just constant narrowing down and pushing buttons and reflashing. A thing i did was to learn that almost all controller setups have SOME way of opening the Retroarch menu. What i did was push combinations. Push one button and combine it with another. And then just keep doing that until you have used all buttons in combination with all other buttons. Start + B, Select + B, RT + B etc.
The other way is to SSH into your PI via your computer and navigate to the config location and replace all config files with a fresh set from another image. Both these methods have worked for me.

I hope any of this can at least be a little help. Just got my system back up and running again and i now know it better than i ever have before.

Thanks. I have no problem getting the hotkeys to work to get into the retroarch menu. I can even scroll in there but no buttons will let me select or confirm .

I see this topic is pretty old but I don't see a final solution. I'm having the same problem. Any luck getting this issue corrected?

@bassman6805 said in Retroarch RGUI menu buttons not working:

ooked up but only enter works to exit. I have not tried all key at the c

These are set to null according to the config file you put in pastebin:

                                # Menu buttons.
                                # menu_ok_btn =
                                # menu_cancel_btn =

Have you tried editing the config file at all to change these...?

@concat I tried uncommenting the 2 lines and set the first to "x" and the second to "z" but it still doesn't work. The only button that works on my game pad in the configuration editor is the start button and that causes it to exit. I can scroll up and down but that is it. If I hook up a keyboard I get the same results. I have mashed every key on it and all that works are the arrow keys and the enter key which exits the menu.

Nevermind, that fixed it. Once I restarted it started working. Thanks so much.
