      • NBA Jam: TE (World) (Sega 32X)

      • Retropie 4.2

      • RPi 3

      • USB External HD

I'm not able to run NBA Jam:TE using the lr-picodrive core for Sega 32X emulation. Kind of a weird issue (to me) that I've come across when trying to play this game.

After entering in your name and team it'll show "Tonight's match up". After that the screen goes black - background music just plays.

At first I thought it was a problem with the emulator core (picodrive?) in retropie and tried downloading picodrive for my pc. Having found that to work I tried with the PC Windows version of retroarch. This also played with no issues. I'm in the process of testing on Lakka but unsure if it's necessary (and don't have a free PC to boot it with) I've also located multiple sources for the rom.

Is this something to do with the picodrive core that's in Retropie 4.2? I'm sure my troubleshooting process wasn't the most scientific but just trying to see if this is a known issue or possibly report a bug if it's not known.

@iamaburr go into retropie setup, update retropie setup, the reinstall lr-picodrive and see if that helps. I just tested it on picodrive and it worked fine. Otherwise look for a different rom.

Edit: 32x version has this issue.

@edmaul69 I've tried what you mentioned. I removed lr-picodrive, installed again once from binary as well as source (separate instances, not sure what was recommended) rebooting between removal and installing. I also pulled the rom from 5 different sources. (File sizes are 4x: 2,239 KB and 1x: 2,247 KB)

The roms I pulled work just fine in retroarch for the PC but on retropie every copy goes black after the "Match up" screen.

I've had this problem for several versions going back to probably 3.6. Since I've been aware of the problem when I installed a vanilla image onto the SD Card it has been one of my first games to try. This is the first time I've come to the forums with it.

@iamaburr are you talking about the 32x version? Yes that one does what you say.

@edmaul69 Yes, the 32x version. Have no issues running the Sega Genesis or SNES versions. I've modified the main post to make sure other people don't mistake this for Sega Genesis.

@edmaul69 I apologize. I should've made clear the platform I was referring to in my first post. I've edited the post to reflect that.
