@lilsuprman you need to hook the ipac to a pc and use its program to change the buttons to other keys on the keyboard. You cannot use f keys, number keys and num keys. Retroarch no longer recognizes those keys. Then you need to go into /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and set up player 1 and player 2 keyboard keys to match the icade. As far as emulationstation goes with the icade you cant have player 2 controlling emulationstation.

Isn't ipac something you use to make your controller act like a keyboard? Also, if I understand correctly, you have a keyboard and 2 ipac controllers, right?
I've had issues like this in the past too where I used a regular Xbox 360 USB controller and a keyboard: they would both go to player 1. I found that using 2 USB controllers, not the keyboard, solved this issue for me.
Maybe one thing I can point you to is the joystick selection manager, which helped me a few times to tell RetroPie which USB controller I want for each player: https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection

@felleg an ipac is a programmable keyboard (minus the keyboard keys) that you attach buttons to. So you are using 1 "keyboard" as 2 players for emulation.

@felleg sorry i was un clear i have an ipac 4 but only have connected 2 players worth of joysticks and buttons
