      Hi !

On the last version of retropie and updated

      root@retropie:~# uname -a
      Linux retropie 4.9.27-v7+ #997 SMP Tue May 9 19:58:37 BST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

Running on a raspberry Pi3 with a audio usb dongle :
      root@retropie:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 16c0:05e1 Van Ooijen Technische Informatica Free shared USB VID/PID pair for CDC devices
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1b3f:2008 Generalplus Technology Inc.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

To have the sound working with this usb-audio-card, i need to do some modification :
      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Sound-Issues

I used the Alternate USB Audio Method so, modification of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Ok, all working good after reboot, sound is good on emulstation and emulator, no problem.
But, when i start and Quit a game, I see quickly on the screen on my bartop a console and the message :
VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements!

      So, no probleme, all working.
I return to the menu quickly and lauch a new game
but... each time I started a new game and qui this game, a new line appear on the console, VolumeControl....

I have desactivate completly rsyslog but no change.
I also try to use runcommand with
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/runcommand-onstart.sh
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/runcommand-onend.sh

With good right and working but... when they scripts seems don't working.
No, exactly working but, don't lauch with 'runcommand'

i think maybe runcommand it's not activated for my one (and only) mame emulator on my bartop
But, impossible to know that because, impossible to enter in the menu where we choice activated or not runcommand (just push any button when i start a game... All buton, joystick, keyboard... nothing, no menu, just starting the game).

but... runcommand or nor, no matter
I just want No longer see the warning/errort message (exactly, i don't want to see any message on my bartop)
Just... the game, the menu :)

If I have a error or problem, i have the ssh and the different log to investigate.

Is they are any body can help me to disapear all message/error/warning on the screen ?
      Thks a lot

      Gi@nts

          Hi !

Thks a lot for your reply.
Ahhhh make a lot of change like compilation on a sd card... not good idea.
I reinstall the retropie on my sd and witch the file system on a USB HardDrive
Change some information to mount sda1 and not my sdcar (file : /etc/fstab and /boot/cmdline.txt)
Et going to make a looooot of change :)

Ok, After some hour, and so, a lot of change.
I have no more message (very clean screen, black, always) on the tty (background screen on emulstation)

No more message when i start and quit a game and, so, i have the Sound
          COOOoooOOOooOOOlll

          I love Retropie :)
it's a really retro-gaming machine engine, turning correctly with standard linux/Unix
Understand, it's running with a user (pi) and not, as some other retro-gaming distribution, directly all start In... root -_-'

          YES, it's good.
Now i can reduce my harddrive filesystem and make a 'image' of sda1
And write to SD (seconde partition of course)

          Cool.
For me, sujet it's close, it's work Very Good on my Rp3

          Thks

Glad you could do what you expected !
And congrats, people often have the fear of modifying source code/recompiling.

I'm unix ingenior so, not really a probleme (I working on AIX, unix ibm)
But, no need to be unix ingénior to re-compiling, modify some files ;)
Just, like to understand how programme(s)/system(s) working and, have a lot of free time.
