      I think I might know what might have happened, but let's see. Drop back to the command line (f4) and type:

      ls /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/

      Press enter and look for anything with a similar name to "doom2.sh" and report it here.

            When you look, are you sure there are no variances to the name "doom2.sh"? No extra characters? Are there any possible differences in upper or lower case?

                  @TheDevastator24

                  OK, the fact that launching doom2.sh throws up an error that says it can't find doom2.sh is odd, so let's drop to the command line and type:

                  nano /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom2.sh

                  near the very end, right before "lr-prboom", make sure it reads "doom2.wad" and not "doom2.sh".

                        I'm going to try breaking my installation in a few different ways to see if I can replicate this. In the mean time, if anyone else sees an error unnoticed so far, feel free to chime in.

                            Well, it tells us that we haven't broken any of the furniture that was already there. ;)

                                At worst we'll start you over from this process. There's o need for a full reinstall.

                                    Well, I could not reproduce that error. Where and when exactly does it appear?

                                    Another couple of things to check are:

                                    • Check to make sure "doom2.wad" is located in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/?
                                    • Check for any upper or lower case mistakes in file names, as well as possible spaces
                                    • Check that every character is exactly as it is written in the example above.

                                    Any discrepancies with these elements will prohibit the game from launching.

                                      @mediamogul ok so what im going to do is just write the disk image off my sd card and send you the file you just have to write it to a empty sd card. im gonna try doing it from a fresh new boot of retropie. and yes the doom wads are in the correct place

                                        There's really no need to send me anything. However, if you want to approach this again using a fresh install on your end, it might have an unforeseen advantage. If you didn't do so last time, try using ssh from your main computer and copy/pasting the input remotely. This will help eliminate any possible discrepancies.

                                            It can be frustrating, I know, but I find it best to take a break and come back to a problem later when progress seems to be stalled. I'm sorry we didn't get you set up here and now, but I feel confident you'll crack this wide open with a little time, trial and error. Also, anyone else who wants to offer better advice on this than my own, please feel free. You certainly won't offend me.
