emulators general performances questions + ideas (most PSX)
-
I am so amazed by Retropie it's awesome! thank you for everyone involved in this development! I can't but notice how running it on a Pi Zero there are small issues with performances especially on the PSX and Arcade section.
I am not new to emulation and these issues are always present even on "standard" computers and I see that to play properly I need to always to tweaks on my machines and notice how I can't (or don't know how" to tweak the same things on the Pi Zero.
First is Frameskip... I believe it's not the purpose of a Pi Zero doing perfect emulation but rather make it playable and aim at 100% speed, doesn't meeter if skipping frames, no? can we do this?
another thing is lowering the audio sample rate. 22050 is more than enough for most games and some games can run easily at 11025 without losing much - is there some option like this?
I played R-Type Delta (one of my favourite games ever) and it's so close to be perfectly playable but the choppy audio ruins it... Don't put me on use Pi3 or Orange Pi - I am interested in Pi Zero as otherwise I can run on the other computers I have. I believe PSX it's so close to be optimised for Zero which is such a pity it's not 100% as I feel it's like 95%... Anything I can do as a user to make it closer to 100%? -
Installing the non-libretro version of pcsx-rearmed gets me full speed with most ps1 games on a pi zero w... The problem is you have to manually set it up and i can't find any good guides (controller and directories don't seem to auto setup correctly so it doesn't find bios files and doesn't have a controller set by default).
