Hello, I'm having some trouble connecting the ZeroW to my WiFi. I haven't had any issues with the previous Pi Zero and a WiFi dongle.

    I am wondering is it:
    A) something that I need to turn on via the settings?
    B) something that the current RetroPie image is not compatible with?
    or C) I have a bad ZeroW?

I had 4.1.18 installed, and recently tried 4.1.20. When I go to the WiFi settings and select "Connect to WiFi network," the only options are:
    0
    H Hidden ESSID

Where the first one is nothing but a blank space.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

By your post can I assume that you are running Retropie 4.1.20 without issues on your Pi Zero W? I have been encountering freezing issues.

The Wifi always worked for me right after first time booting the Raspberry Pi Zero W with the Retropie images 4.1.18,4.1.19, 4.1.20 and 4.2. The freezing issues only happend in the RetroPie menu Gui and not in de command line Gui.

I never had to turn on anything via settings, directly seeing a lot of Wifi connections to choose from.

@zerd_sword and @lammetje, thanks for the replies.

I am not sure what freezing issues you are referencing. When I am in the RetroPie menu GUI and open up the WiFi settings to connect to my router, I don't get any options other than the two in my original post. Nothing freezes from there, I am able to back out and return to the RetroPie GUI w/o issues. I have yet to try 4.2 to see if that will fix the issue, I am hoping that its not a bad ZeroW.

Hopefully sometime in the next day or so I can reimage the μSD card to upgrade it to 4.2. If anyone else has any other thoughts to this, I'm all ears.

I'm having the exact same issue! only this showing up too:

              0
              H Hidden ESSID

Breaking my head over this for the last few hours. Also the bluetooth seems to be not working.

              Running 4.2 on a Pi Zero W.
Also tried wifikeyfile, no way of getting it to work.
              Anyone with advice?

I have figured it out.... This for others who might be experiencing the same thing:

                Had the exact same issues.
Tried switching my keyboard settings. Tried the WiFikey.txt file. Tried switching to a higher power power supply. All to no avail.
Also flashed raspbian to my 'Zero W'... Same problems "no network adapters found". What started to ring bells was that also the Bluetooth adapter wasn't found.

@capn000 Any luck with a fix for this? I have had the same issue & have tried burning other img files to my sd card but to no avail. I have noticed that the wifi & bluetooth are gone the moment you hook it up to a pitft display. After that I have no luck trying to download any update files to my pi & I don't even have the option of connecting via SSH from my mac.

                    RetroPie Current configuration:
                    PiGRRL_ZERO IMG (9/12/16 version)
                    NOOBS LITE V_2_4
                    ADAFRUIT PITFT 2.2
                    PowerAdapter: 5.25V - 2.4A

I was asking if this ever got resolved, I then stated what I did on 2 different occasions that resulted in NO WIFI on PiZeroW which falls in line with this thread, I don't see what I did wrong in asking if this got fixed.... But I will post a new thread, thanks
