      hello All,
I am an aging old tech head and recently decided to spice up my raspberry pi 3 build. The plan was to triple boot it so i could have retropie, kodi and a basic OS.

I have now achieved this and i'm very pleased with the result as i've also got a menu option in retropie for using moonlight to stream my pc games which is working brilliantly.

I have disabled xpad and am now using xboxdrv, i've set up the controller in the contollers section of emulationstation and it was detected as xbox360 (user space driver) or something similar. I also set up a profile in moonlight and programmed in the various buttons and controls. This profile works as expected when using moonlight to control GTA V via steam.

Last night i tried to grab some roms for the amiga/spectrum and test out the emulation station side of things however i haven't had much luck with anything so far.

I grabbed a few spectrum .zip roms and placed them into the correct folder on the sd card, restarted emulation station and they were picked up [the zx spectrum emulator appeared on the menu]. When I try and start one of them, i get the following error:

      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 788: 903 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fuse/fuse_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/zxspectrum/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/zxspectrum/Adidas Championship Tie Break (Europe).zip" --appendconfig /tmp/retroarch.cfg

I have spent some time googling and i'm still confused about what's causing this. I've tried various things but to be honest i'm not entirely sure if i'm making the problem worse by not understanding what i'm doing and randomly hacking lines into files. I haven't done anything at all to set up retroarch, is that something i need to do? it seems that the error log is very similar if i run an amiga rom, however i don't have that to hand at the moment.

Could anyone please point me in the direction of a fix or an initial setup guide I could follow? i think i'm 99% there with this, it'd be great to get it working.

      and my setup:
      Pi Model: 3
RetroPie Version Used: latest binary from github
Built From: (SD Image, Binary, Source) SD Image
USB Devices connected: USB Wireless RF keyboard Rii
      Controller used: XBox controller [wired]
      Error messages received: segmentation error
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide): my own notes here https://db.tt/6I7Bk4hl
File: (File with issue - with FULL path) any spectrum/amiga rom [zip file images for spectrum]
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable): ZX Spectrum/Amiga

      Thanks in advance

      Chris

looks like these spectrum emulators don't support .zip files? have you tried extracting it?

oh.. thanks for that. I had checked in the config file for emulation station and i'm pretty sure zip was listed there... i'll give this a go when i get home. thanks for the tip :) I think i may also need to configure the retro arch script for my controller, which i'll also try
