N64 libretro cores got support to cheevos this weekend
I hope they add non-libretro emulators.
I mean, I guess I could play Mario 64 again...for the 5th time...this year
-
@meleu huh, I am useing the same core but it looks choppy compared to my ps2. I'm using a rom from the correct rom pack

Haha sweet. Here's my profile:
http://retroachievements.org/User/MrJordaaanyNothing impressive yet, and don't take to heart that I haven't complete much yet. Im still busy tweaking my retropie and testing alot of games that will probably pop up there. Once the Pi is completely done (and it almost is) I'll be cracking down and playing some retro games and earning Cheevos. Such a cool idea, and I love the community behind it. Love to make my own achievement list for a game in time. Maybe for Legend of the River King 1 or 2.

@lilbud by the way, the N64 libretro cores got support to cheevos this weekend. Unfortunately they don't run well on the pi...
Exciting. The other non-lr N64 emulators work pretty great. No chance of it coming to those?

Well I was referring to emulators on Windows, like non libretro Project 64.
I just wish there was a Mario 64 achievement for backwards long jumping up the endless stairs
Also, @MrJordaaany @meleu How in the hell were you able to change your profile picture for Retroachievements? It doesn't work when I try to change mine.

You can try the "official" emulator on Windows. Get it here: http://retroachievements.org/viewtopic.php?t=4686

I used the traditional way, but I remember that it was a pain and I had to try several times. Can't remember what exactly made it possible...

@pjft the standard one. When it first played swos I was into football in a big way . I had season tickets for my home team Raith rovers and we where in the premier league and had recently played Bayern Munich in Europe . It reminds me of the golden era for my towns football team. It is a great game .
-
@rig it's plays perfect in FBA . It even feels a tad to fast at times like darkstalker and some other games FBA emulates.

Right. Just tell that to yourself ;)
My Pi has been in that state for the last 9 months, as tinkering with it ends up being what I do the most :P And I imagine most regulars here as well.
I'm not sure if one day it will be "done" - every other week there's something that makes me think "oh wow, that is really cool, I need to try that" (shader, theme, a new ROM I hear about in any old games site or podcast) and then off I go. It's a virtuous cycle for me. :)
@beamquaker well done. It's a great game!
-
@rig 3rd Strike does slow down a bit when you perform a super, you can hear a slight crackle in the audio for a split second, but otherwise it runs full speed on my pi2 at 1ghz and pi3 at 1.3ghz.

Haha exactly. It's what im trying to tell myself now. But then you come across over-lays, and oohhh I like the sound of netplay, and hey look! RectroAchievements!
It never ends... Please send help...
-
@MrJordaaany can you do netplay for things like street fighter?
-
@spruce_m00se Haven't played with it enough yet to say. My understanding is, if you can set it up properly, it works with any game as long as you and your partner are using the exact same rom file, and exact same emulator.

i've heard this before! apparently the real CPS3 board actually had different (slower) frame rates in some stages/situations, but FBA aims for 60Hz at all times.
if anyone can dig up a youtube video or something like that showing the proper hardware doing something different to FBA, then we could report it as an issue to FBA and see if they can fix it.

Out of interest, I booted up my 3rd strike last night and it was choppy and laggy too. Then I updated lr-fba and tried again and it works 100% fine now. So maybe try that.
-
@MrJordaaany i smell a couple of pi's being conencted in my living room for a test
-
@darksavior , I just tried 3rd strike again and compared it to my ps2 copy and it is not as smooth on the rpi. It looks like it is skipping frames.
-
@mrjordaaany, I tried 3rd Strike again today and it was not as bad as I remembered but still looked like it was skipping frames. My lr-fba has the latest update. I then played 3rd Strike on my ps2 and it was a lot smoother. I think if you were to play it on the pi without knowing how smooth it is on the ps2 you might think there was nothing wrong with it. It is definitely playable on the pi.
-
@rig Don't know then. My pi3 at 1.3ghz plays sf3 fine at 1080p with the crt-pi shader. It will get dips of up to 5.fps sometimes but it's 60fps most of the time with no frameskip.
