I'm finding that once I set the Graphics mode to OpenGl all dropdown menus stop working. You push the up/down button to bring up the options, it freezes fro a bit, the options show up, none can be selected, then goes away after a bit. The only way to fix it is to edit the INI to remove OpenGL. I've done it from a fresh install with no other options changed (excluding controllers)

I'm using a Pi 1 B, 3.6 image installed updated to the latest setup script and binaries as of last night, any combination of two Logitech controllers g10 or dual action, KB mouse, setup following the install guides on github, mostly. No other graphics option or any other options seem to cause this problem.

Just made sure my RPI was up to date with latest scummvm binary and the opengl option worked ok here. Perhaps something else in your config - you could remove /opt/retropie/configs/scummvm and re-install from binary and see if that helps.
