I recently added some ROMs to my Retropie, when I went to scrape them I ran into a problem. I have about 30 games in my Megadrive / Genesis folder. The scrapping process seems to stop around the 9th or 10 ROM. The XML scraper seems to crash every time. Has anyone come across this issue? Does anyone have any ideas away around this issue?

Do you have the very last version ?
Maybe a rom with a "weird" character ?

@screech I couldn't even get the XML scraper to open. I downloaded both the 64-bit and 32-bit version and as soon as the splash screen displayed an error came up that said something like "line 2561 couldn't process script" - I don't remember exactly what it said. When I opened the .exe it self extracted to the same folder and then my anti-virus caught a "dbloader" and quarantined it. I thought it may be a false positive so even when I whitelisted the "malware" it found I still got a script line error, it was very frustrating so I gave up.

Have you the "music" at start ?

On few computer with weird codec the jingle can crash. Try to launch the "Silence" Shortcut (without music so ^^)

For the False positive, unfortunatly it's well known... and it's about the langage I use to create UXS (autoit) you can found more info here : https://github.com/Universal-Rom-Tools/Universal-XML-Scraper/issues/240

Also, you can look at log.txt file, and tell me the few last line (to see why it crash)

@screech Yes there was audio, I didn't try the silent run but I will re-download and try it again later. If it doesn't work I will get the log file, thank you.

@screech I'm still getting the error, even with silent mode. I'm on Windows 10 64-bit using the 64-bit version of XML. Log file:

@screech said in Issues with Universal XML Scraper V2:

Maybe a rom with a "weird" character ?

The XML scraper tells you that you have to download the new version in order to use it anyways.

@theWinterDojer It seems that UXS can't access internet.. (The ServerList.txt file is on Github, so it's not even a DB Access problem) Have you a firewall ? or an AntiVirus ? Please check if you can give access right to UXS ;)

@Ecks And the logs ? Like @theWinterDojer it's easier to catch "why" it doesn't work with some more info ;)

@screech I disabled my Anti-virus and ran it with no success, I will try disabling the firewall later.
