I used to play that E.T. Atari game. Looking at your avatar brings back memories!

A lot of people will try to tell you that it's one of the worst games of all time, but those are just the people who played it.

Where do you get legal ROM's?

There are relatively few ROMs that are legal to download, but they do exist. Commercial ROMs can legally be dumped from games that you own and run on RetroPie. Outside of those exceptions and any possible outlying exemptions of laws local to yourself, every other means of obtaining ROMs should be considered strictly illegal. That being the case, we cannot offer support to any user we know to be involved in the propagation of copyrighted material to protect the well-being of the RetroPie project.

The people who say it was the worst game never read the manual. If you do that and get a true understanding of the game, it is kinda cool.

Very true. Before reading the manual, I made a flower grow and genuinely wondered if I had beaten the game. It's pretty funny that the game being somewhat decent is a bigger kept secret than all those copies of it buried out in the Alamogordo desert.

This is a little strange. I've got Rey's 128GB image on one of my pi's and using a Wii U pro controller and Mame not only recognizes the d-pad but both analog sticks (which is perfect for Smash TV). Are using the onboard bluetooth or a PC adaptor to connect your controller? I have the reverse problem with a different version of Mame with my Wii U pro controller. I can't get Mame to recognize the analog sticks even though RetroArch and ES both properly map and recognize them. As I've been digging for solutions, I think Mame doesn't have the best setup for connection to Wii U pro controllers.

@ogbuehi Hey there... Sorry, just saw this. I have been using the onboard bluetooth controller in the pi. When I go into the mame menu to tell it the controls, it recognizes the analog movements but not the d-pad. Someone said I might be able to fix it with retroarch, but I have no idea how that works. Is it easy? Did you have to do that? Thanks!

Actually, I'm using the standard PC adapter for the Wii U controller. I've tried using the onboard bluetooth and it seemed promising at first. But I eventually started experiencing ghosting. The ghosting was promptly fixed as soon as I connected to the adapter. If you want to see if RetroArch may fix the problem it's not hard. You can just enter RetroArch either in the emulator (hotkeys Select and X) or go into the RetroArch menu in Retropie. It's very easy to setup the analog sticks in Retropie.

@ogbuehi Thanks! What's the PC adapter exactly? Is it still wireless? Or no?

@ogbuehi Is this what you have? If I want to play 2 players, will I need to buy 2? Thanks!!!

Yeah for xinput mode you will one adaptor per controller.

The adaptor has a switch on it to allow it to mimic either an xbox layout (xinput) or a generic usb pad (dinput).

You can connect 4 controllers via dinput, but dinput is a sketchy controller profile/setting.For one thing i'm 99% sure the home/guide button is not recognized.

Stick with xinput, which needs 1 adptor per controller.

That's exactly what I use. I've only used it as one player but you will have probably have to buy two. If you plan to use a USB hub, make sure it is powered.

@ogbuehi @megafacehead Cool! I bought 2 on Amazon. They'll be here tomorrow. I'll let you know if my D-pad is recognized in MAME! Appreciate your feedback!
