Sound quality in mame not good
-
you need to use your initiative - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2/forum-rules - it is against the forum rules to ask where to download copyrighted software.
-
I CAN'T FIND THEM.....
-
then you are out of luck.
-
Then what use is this forum if you just refuse to help people and send them on a wild goose chase that doesn't actually answer the questions at hand? Why not make an emulator that actually uses roms that work perfectly well on any PC version of mame I've used?
-
Can I please get some help here? You've still told me nothing on how to make this work.
-
you're asking for us to give you a link to an illegal file. there's a very simple google search that will help you find a torrent for mame 0.78.
-
@Gators As others have said, the instructions on how to do this is in the Wiki (and trust me, that makes it a lot easier than it used to be).
The only part that isnt there is where to find the roms themselves due to copyright rules.I have made a short video below, showing Donkey Kong working in lr-mame4all. As per the wiki I have the rom from the 0.37b5 romsets.
If you dont want to use clrmamepro (Herb Fargus has made a video to show this) to create/rebuild the correct versions, you need to find the correct romset as a whole. Google or torrent sites will generally help here. But please dont get upset if we cant give you a link.
-
I have Donkey Kong working in mame4all, but like crap. I have a set for that, but that does me no good. I can't find the set. Maybe you can't give a direct link, but, I'm not sure how one is expected to find the right thing when there's different things called the same thing......
-
if you download a big old zip (about 9gb) called mame 0.78 it will be the right set. it's easy to find.
-
I'm not using mame4all above, I'm using lr-mame4all. This is on a Pi3, but to be honest I'd expect it to be the same on a Pi2 and even Pi1.
Perhaps you dont have a PSU that is correct?
It should be 5.1v 2.5A - is that how yours is marked? I presume you are using it mains powered as opposed to a usb into your TV or something?Do you get a small square box appearing in the top right of the screen indicating under power or anything?
-
Ok, this stupid program makes no sense. I only want a few games, not a huge pile to sift through. So, trying to build a new set, I made a folder with a handful of games I want, and told it to rebuild that into a new folder. My new folder has a ton of games I don't want. Where is it generating these from? How can I get a small set that I want without a ton of extras? This makes no sense, how is it making games out of thin air?
-
Ugh....if you keep using different things with nearly the same names no one will ever understand anything you guys try to do.....
-
Thats a mame convention that makes sense. As you are new to MAME, you may find this explanation(s) of why different versions exist helpful:

Ok, I use this stupid clrwhatever program, and now I have more rom files that still don't work. Thanks.....
Is there a clear way to just get a handful of working roms at all?
Do you go out of your way to make the most difficult to use products?
-
no-one here made mame. these are ancient mame cores that the raspberry pi can JUST about run. don't like it? don't play arcade games on a pi and stop being rude to volunteers who do this for fun.
-
- No problem
- Yes (Wiki)
- No. (Also your issue is with mame, please direct odd complaints to their site)
Can you check the power details I asked above?

I understand you are frustrated, but relax, take a break, and try and be calm - especially when people are trying to help you.
-
Look, I appreciate the help, but this is really unclear. I've read your documents, and I've run your programs, and I keep getting roms that don't work. I have roms. I have a pi. How do I get said roms to work, if you can't point me to working roms?
-
I don't understand this scanning program, and your documentation on it isn't clear, at all.
What does it do?
How is it doing that?
Why does it create games out of thin air?
How do I get working games?
-
it reorganises existing romsets to work with different mame versions. Not from thin air. You need at least one mame rom set to use it - the more the better if you want the chance of rebuilding the exact set.
Did you watch the video tutorial ?
