Neo Geo X Build

You can turn off the splash screen. There is a command line parameter for that.
-
@hex
Yep, just need to add the argument --no-splash when launching emulationstation. You just get a black screen instead. -

also @ruckage if you need i made hi-rez 4:3 screenshots with proper scanlines (phosphors) for the 4:3 version of your theme will send to you on your selected platform...
also they are all title screens, no in-game shots
Not sure what you mean by 'proper' scanlines? Title screens are a bit redundant though with this theme as I have the game logo displayed above the screen shot so a gameplay shot makes more sense.

By the way, if you have a long enough video, you can make it hide the ES loading screen.
I posted about it here:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11735/video-splashscreen-not-skipping-es/2Yeah, that trick works great. I find on the raspberry pi 3 with a decently fast SD card (I'm using a Sandisk Ultra) the NeoGeo splash video I made is pretty much the perfect length. As soon as it finishes ES is ready to use, makes it pretty seamless.

@ruckage i feel ya...

@ruckage when the hell did that get added, the last i heard you had to compile it yourself to disable screen

Hi everyone,
I've just uploaded the first version of the theme for you try, sorry for taking so long but I re-worked a lot of theme to improve performance.
This first release only supports Neo-Geo and Capcom but I will be adding a general arcade system as well. I may also do some collection systems as that seems to make sense for this - eg. differrent genres such as 'fighting', 'shmup', 'platformer' .I've also made changes to allow for different help system control schemes. So far it only has 'aes-controls' and 'arcade-controls'. These are more of a test at the moment as I don't know what control schemes people are using but I can easily add more if you request them.
To change the help controls to arcade open the settings.xml file and change the following line:
<include>./settings/aes-controls.xml</include>
To:
<include>./settings/arcade-controls.xml</include>
AES CONTROLS
ARCADE CONTROLS
I've also uploaded all of the required assets - these are quite big files but they cover a huge portion of the arcade titles in mame so that when I add a general arcade section to the theme all the assets will ready for it.
Finally I've also uploaded the splashscreen video in 16x9 and 4x3 aspect ratios. They will be much higher quality than you would get from the youtube video I uploaded.
If you need any help then post here and I'll try to answer your questions.

YES, YES, YES! Finally the time has come!
This is the highlight of this year.
Thanks a ton @ruckage -
@ruckage YOU DA MAN RUCK!
effing awesome!
-
@ruckage one request: when you do categories, can you please include a "shooters" myself and many of my generation (40) are not a fan of the term "shmups"
-
This is better than the original neogeo X
LOL -
@ruckage also shouldnt it be aes-controls.xml and mvs-controls.xml :)
-
@ruckage where are the screenshots, am i missing them somewhere?
thanks...
-
@ruckage neo-geo missing loading & marquees: bang bang busters (b2b), neo pong (neopong), poker night (poknight), bust-a-move 1&2 (us versions of jap games, as it wasnt know here as puzzle bobble until GBA i think) and the theme itself does not have a 4x3 layout just 16x9...
svcsplus is missing too "SVC Super Plus" (Bootleg), instead its just a dupe artwork of "SVC Plus"
"select a system" maybe not needed or when you do category labels obviously would be "select a catagory" i dunno... dealers choice...
thanks again for all your hard work :)
hope my feedback helps.

@ruckage, small favor for a high res image, otherwise i would do it, can you include an mvs controls image without "menu" and "options" words as in my specific cabinet i have put two buttons behind the coin door to handle the "administration options" because i dont want people accidentally playing with settings, and i have removed the retropie settings option in the list as well, as i can SSH into it for anything...
if not bro thaks anyway, will just edit image myself and deal with lower quality image, again bad-ass start and exemplary work, as always...

Being in that generation myself I'm not a fan of 'shmup' either but it was quicker to type. We called them 'Shoot 'em ups' which is what I'd label the category.

Yeah, I was trying not to confuse people - I was going to label 'AES' 'console' instead as well. If I add more controls they will probably need a better naming scheme anyway.

and the theme itself does not have a 4x3 layout just 16x9...I knew there would be some missing images as I was limited to what I could get from the Hyperspin website. I believe there are more wheel packs that would add many of the missing marquess but you have to be a paid member to get them. Some though like 'puzzle bobble/bust a move' are trickier as there is only one rom - it's just the in game title that changes when set to US. This is just an initial release though so I'll be able to add seperate zips of missing art as time goes on.
Already said about 4x3. I will sort something out for that but it's not a simple task as It will basically require a completely separate theme. I think I have an idea for it but you may have to wait a little while.

So, to be clear would you like a controls image with the last 2 buttons removed completely? Or do you just want them to be labelled with a different function? If you can give me specifics then I can make any control art that is requested.

LOLThanks:) - though judging from the hate/critcism that the Neo-Geo X received I should hope so :D

First off, a big thank you for all your work. Well done.
To collect and edit all those marquees and launch images must have been a big pain in the rear.It took me a while to pick all the right marquees and launch images for each system but I got it done. Now here some issues I have encountered thus far.
Video Player issue
Not sure about you or other guys but in my build I have to use the OMX player to play the videos since the VLC player doesn't do a good job at all. The downside of the OMX player is, it is always floating most top no matter what the index of all other elements are.
Players Icon issue
Another issue I have is the Player thing on the bottom-right.
I get these white empty squares.
Marquees and Images issues
The following marquees are just screenshots.
For CPS
cworld2j-marquee.png
jyangoku-marquee.png
qndream-marquee.png
qtono2j-marquee.pngI had the marquees so I created my own launch images and marquees. If you need the raw marquee images I can share them if you like and you can redo them your style.
Missing thus far was the following
For NeoGeo
maruko chan quiz game (marukodq-marquee.png)
For FBA or generic Arcade
Raiden II
Raiden DX
screenshot images issue
Was this theme meant to be a video based theme only or was it also intended to use still images like screenshots too? Because if a video is missing I get this here.
