I made this small jingle for the 5-year anniversary. :D

Happy Birthday and a MASSIVE thankyou from myself who continues to be amazed by the sheer awesomeness of RetroPie. Thanks to everyone involved for such a great project!

@itsnitro
Here are some screenshots of my RetroPie v1.9 build from May 2014.
This was a theme for NES I was working on in EmulationStation 1.0. before RetroPie v2 with ES 2.0 was released in July 2014.
There was no systems screen in EmulationStation 1.0; it was straight to the games list. I would use left and right on the D-pad to navigate between systems. It could take a few seconds for ES to wake up and respond to the key press so I would press the D-pad again (and again). ES would move past the system I wanted so I had to scroll back.
The Doom theme needed some work.
This was the last screen in ES before I would need to scroll left for the other systems. I never used it as there wasn't any documentation available explaining its purpose. This was my first install guide for connecting a PS3 controller via bluetooth. After using it, I became accustomed to editing config files manually, something I still prefer to do in the latest version of RetroPie.Booting up v1.9 on my RasPi 1 Model B took me back to the day when I first installed RetroPie via the setup script. I started around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and I was ready to play my first game at 10pm. It was definitely worth it.
Over the years, It's been a pleasure to have seen the many improvements in RetroPie so that I can install it and be playing inside half an hour. Many thanks to those concerned for their hard work.

Wow, RetroPie has changed a loooooot.
So much has changed. -
@lilbud The most important introduction to EmulationStation 2.0 was the ability to shut down the Pi safely from the options menu. The only way I found to do this in my v1.9 build was to run
sudo shutdown -h now
via SSH. -
@dudleydes said in Whats The Date Again?: Episode II:
sudo shutdown -h now
If I had a dollar for every time I typed
sudo shitdown -h now
instead ofshutdown
i'd be rich -
You'd get rich from a lot of shit.
Seinfeld Theme plays

Oh, great job with starting this topic!
Happy birthday RetroPie! It's been a tremendous year, and a whole lot of fun. Thank you all for making this a welcoming, fantastic community to be part of, and for making RetroPie a vibrant, healthy project.
-
@itsnitro
Think it'd be okay for me to use this in a video splashscreen?Never Mind
-
@pjft Not vibrant - pulsating and of course healthy.
Long live RetroPie, на сдорове -
@lilbud Go for it-
awww -
@itsnitro I was about to, but then I realized that the song is 40sec long, a bit too much for a video splashscreen.
Besides, I remembered Mario Paint Composer and am trying to make music
-
I can shorten it if you want.
-
@itsnitro Nah, it's okay.
What software did you use?
-
@lilbud Only the professional of the professional, FL Studio 12.4.
-
@itsnitro Looks a bit too complicated for me, I'll just stick to Mario Paint Composer
-
@lilbud Yeah, stick with that.
Or you could use GarageBand or something, idk.
or Famitracker. -
@itsnitro Have you ever heard of BeepBox? I used it to create this
-
@lilbud Sounds pretty good! The chords (the 3 notes playing at the same time) are a little off, but other than that it's great!
-
@itsnitro I was transcribing from sheet music while doing, piano doesn't transfer well to chiptune
