TI99 on a fresh install not working...
-
Hello again,
Since last I posted, I have re-read the must-read post and I have done a fresh install to RetroPie 4.2, I believe. I have spent most of the day configuring it. For a while, I didn't think I was going to be able to get it set up, but I found a bunch of how too's on line and got the job done. With the new install, I installed the experimental package for the TI-99. It does, in fact, show up on the home screen to be selected. The games for it do show up when I enter the emulation. However, when I click on any game, it goes black, shows the little gray box, and then returns to the TI-99 menu. Please help if you know how to get this emulator running.

@kevinshope you're missing the bios file. The wiki page explains which are needed. It needs to be named exactly as it shows in order for it to work.

I was thinking this, Herb. However, while I know the name of the file needed, that bios file is the most illusive file I've ever looked for on the web. I own an actual TI-99. I would just harvest the BIOS from that if I could. But I looked for that BIOS for probably six hours on the internet and could not find it. Texas Instrument is apparently still very protective of that property...what....35 years after it was released? Thanks for your response. It at least confirms what I suspected.

@herb_fargus So...I have the BIOS now. I put it in the BIOS folder. When I try to start a rom now, it seems to be loading but then it seems to be cutting the video signal all together. I tried setting the video mode for the emulator to correct for this, but it is still just cutting the video signal when I load a ROM. Thanks for you help.

@kevinshope what's the rom name and filetype you're trying to play? Also can you verify the md5sum of your bios? Btw the Atari age forum has a pretty good community for ti99 emulation, one of their members wrote up a guide on how to create proper disks and whatnot to play them that I believe is linked on the wiki page

@herb_fargus The file is TI-994A.ctg. I do not know how to check the md5sum for the bios. I tried to follow the tutorial available at Atari Age long before I posted here, but I was unable to navigate some of the steps. Thanks for your help.
