Roms not loading/ emulators not showing
-
So I've just finished installing Retropie over raspbian on my raspberry pi 2b and tried to load the roms of a few games but after loading them they aren't showing up. When I boot the pi and emulationstation boots I only see the emulator for sega32 but I have loaded PSX, N64, and Sega Genesis all into their respective folders in /roms. The one game that shows up under the sega32 emulator starts and then emediatly crashes and brings me back to the rom selection screen. Any thoughts on what could be the problem would be much appreciated. Thanks

@zaphod42 Any reason you didn't just use the image? Also, please fill out this form in full:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to prevent further guesswork. When I boot the pi and emulationstation boots I only see the emulator for sega32 but I have loaded PSX, N64, and Sega Genesis all into their respective folders in /roms.
Suggests that the roms are not in the correct location. What is the full path? Should be
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx
for PSX. Correct file type? Since June 16th 2016 the RetroPie script has configured Emulation Station to no longer show .bin files in the UI. This means that a .cue file is required to start the game.
or
Parse Game Lists - If on, it will only read the roms you have scraped, so if you add any new roms it will not look for them unless you turn this back off. it is off by default.

@rbaker the games are in the correct location. The .cue file is in the zip along with the .bin. And what is parse games list and scraping? I apologize I'm new to this. I read the rules is my post not in accordance? I looked around but could not find a post with the same problem i'm experiencing. I'm using a raspberry pi 2b with Raspbian Jessie kernel 4.9 from raspberrypi. Org on a 5v 2.5 amp power supply with a pre made sd image from the retropie U.K. Site version 3.6 I believe only USB device connected at the time was a PS4 controller I setup the retropi with no error codes were shown and I followed the guide here to burn img and setup raspbian and guide on U.K. Retropi site to burn IMG and set up retropie. when checking list in the according directories /home/pi/retropie/roms/(name of emulator)(psx)(n64)(sega32x) they show in green in their respective directories but when rebooted the emulators do not appear in emulation station startup screen only one does and it is the sega32x emulator is there to choose from which brings me to rom selection screen when I start the rom it boots to title screen then screen goes black and puts me back in rom selection screen. Thank you for your quick response, help and patience.

@herb_fargus I've read that the built in psx emulator on retropie can read from .zip .7zip files I didn't see the need to extract them

You need to supply all the information requested so that people can see your setup. For example, people post issues then reveal later that they are using a phone charger to power their system!
First thing, Are you actually using version 3.6? This was back from March 2016! The current version in 4.2. Second, you say that you are using Jessie from https://www.raspberrypi.org/ then go on to say that you are using the pre-made image. Which? Did you install retropie yourself or did you use the image from here? Finally, with regard to PSX, as previously asked, why are you using zip files? Why do you think that the psx emulators use them? What are you reading? Have you read this? Do you have the Bios in the correct place? Let's deal with these issues first before the other systems.

RetroPie Version Used 4.2
Built From: pre made SD Image on RetroPie U.K. On top of raspbian Jessie kernel 4.9 from raspberrypi. Org
USB Devices connected PS4 controller and keyboard
Controller used: PS4 controller
Error messages received: N/A
Log found in n/a
Guide used: guide for raspbian on raspberrypi. Org and guide for rétro pi here on retropie. Org. UK and guide to install roms from tech tipsta on YouTube suggested here (where I heard leaving them in .zip was fine)
File: n/a
Emulator: psx, n64, sega32x
Attachment of config files:
How to replicate the problem: I inserted USB stick into pie and it copied folders over I then put the USB stick back into computer and put roms into their folders retropie/roms/(n64)(sega32)(psx) and put USB stick back into pie I ran a list command on each directory and roms were displayed in green showing they had been transferred onto the pie. Once I rebooted the pie only the sega32x emulator was present on the emulation station selection screen. I clicked it and it brought me to the rom selection screen I started the game it booted to the title screen and then went black and brought me back to the rom selection screen. Thanks again and let me know if I'm missing any pertinent information. -
@zaphod42 For PSX games you have to have them extracted because the emulator reads .pbp, .iso, and .bin/.cue so if you want to play your games you have to extract the files.
