I saw this, and since I had been searching for something like this, I had to have it. I wanted just to install it onto Raspbian, and since Retropie is just Raspbian with a special Emulationstation cover, I tried just that. Writing this as of compiling.

I'm attempting to get this up and running with the above but I am not having much luck. Any advice you could PM me would be appreciated.

Take note...this is my first time "adding" a port so it's got to be a simple step I seem to be failing to realize.

@argii don't use the convoluted knickknackery I did. Just install it from the setup script.

I titled it RoboBlast2.sh and put it in /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/ports/ but it doesn't show up in the setup script.

@argii it's already in the setup script. If it's not you haven't updated.

It will be in the experimental section

@herb_fargus updated and still not working. pie-setup says it can't find version .17 in the bin folder while trying to install version .19

It won't allow me to add anything to that bin folder.
It does nothing when I update from source

My apologies I just tested it. It looks like there is an issue. The assets may be out of date. I'll look into it.

@argii ok should be fixed. if you update your setup script and try to reinstall again it should work.

                          updated retropie-setup.
                          re-installed srb2.
still giving me the same error.

@herb_fargus EPIC !!! Got it to work. I think the first time I didn't do a hard reset. This time I made sure the setup script was in fact updated and then did a hard reset, then re-installed srb2 and BAM !!
                            Sonic is jumping around.
Looks ridiculous on a 50 in. screen but fun as hell !

                            A HUGE THANK YOU.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I just learned about this game from the announcement that the ability to install it is included in the new RetroPie 4.3 image. I did a quick glance through this thread... am I correct in understanding that the port will install not only the script to launch it from ES, but also all the required game files? Or do I have to download it from their website and extract out the data files like in some of the other ports??

@speedy-da-doge Try installing it from the RetroPie setup, it's in the Experimental packages section, called srb2.

I just heard about this game today (a little bit late, I know). I read about the latest release and it mentioned it was a DOS game, so I was hoping that I could get it to run in DOSbox - then I learned that it hasn't been a DOS game since the 3rd demo!

Then I stumbled upon this thread - This is awesome! Thank you.

Edit: Good article about evolution of SRB2 Sonic Robo Blast 2's 20th anniversary
