@funkotron77 Again, I see nothing. Maybe also check the /var/log/syslog, but without grep to see every message. A simple cat /var/log/syslog will show it, and you could copy & paste the last part of the output. To be sure, you could look at it before and after the remount command, to check for changes (the same goes for dmesg).

After that, alas, I'm out of ideas. I never had to deal with something similar myself yet.

There's nothing in RetroPie that enabled or disbables writing on the scard. SD card turning read-only is sometimes a sign of a damaged card.

Favourites - Once list is final can you disable the Y button (add/remove)?

      I did this exact thing.

I left the "save on exit" on. I just edited the emulation station button map CFG file to remove the "favorites" button ("Y" for me) map. (I think I mapped it to nothing. It's been a while.) I can still go into the metadata in FULL mode and edit favorites (I still have a favorites list), but the favorites button do anything. I have the button available in games, just not ES. Again, I edited the CFG file in terminal with nano...or in PIXEL with text editor.

@edmaul69 I have tried that and it worked - just like chmod 0444 *.nes does - but that doesn't stop the file from being able to be deleted. I thought read only might have stopped a file from being deleted.

Any ideas on how to secure a file from being deleted, but still being able to be read by the retropie system?

That appears to be the case. I re-flashed the image many times, but a new card did the trick. Funny that card had worked fine before.

      Thanks!
