Are those files being run from within the Basilisk Mac environment, or just from the linked folder in OSX?

in the environment, they are in the unix folder in a folder called games

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the unix folder reside in OSX. If that's the case and it's the same setup your working with on the Pi, then that's definitely the problem.

ok so your saying the fact that i have all the same files i used for the mac basilisk version which I'm using for the pi is the problem?

but how else was i suppose to get the OS on to the pi if not preparing it via the mac first?

if you could be so kind as to break it down for me what i did wrong and what i can do to fix it i would be forever grateful

Not exactly. On the Pi, the unix folder should only ever be considered as a portal. No games or files should ever be run from it. The files should be fully copied to the Basilisk Mac environment before working with them further. The reason this is not necessary on the Mac OSX side is likely due to it's ability to preserve classic Mac files.

@mediamogul ok, well i did move the games folder over all together at one point to the Macintosh HD on the pi and nothing happened.
i moved the games folder to the macintosh HD on the mac version of basilisk and it works just the same as it was if it was in the unix folder

Somehow or another the files were probably corrupted along the way. It could be something else, but from what you're describing, it sounds like the most possible scenario.

i don't know how tiny kb files (93) of them can be corrupted when they were dragged and dropped via a shared folder.
it has to be something else we are not seeing.

aside from starting from scratch again to create a new OS img. it still doe not explain why the game files show an image icon on the mac vs a plain white image on the pi

It was the explanation when I was setting up mine, but it could indeed be that you're experiencing a separate issue.

how did you go about setting up your so i can maybe compare what you did to what i did?

I setup Basilisk on OSX, making sure that Stuffit Expander and Disk Copy were functional and then transferred that setup to the Pi. Since then, everything I bring in is both fully copied over to the Basilisk Mac disk and able to be extracted using the aforementioned software. Using that workflow, I haven't run into anything yet that hasn't at least installed.

ok i have nothing to loose but to try again.

any suggestions where i can google for .sit stuff? if thats what you recommend
did you look at emaculation where i got my stuff? do u think that will be ok?
i just don't want to go through all of this again if the existing files are poop, you know?

I believe you used all the information that I used. @edmaul69 and I have compared notes in the past and I think our setups are pretty similar. I wouldn't think that you have to start over. Just make sure those two pieces of software are functional and that you never run anything out of the unix folder or alter any file at all until it has been safely copied over to the Mac classic environment.

but for the 2 pieces of software, where do i get those to install ?i assume they are necessary? which versions of each too?

disk copy does nothing unless i have an image
and stuffit has its own folder

well long behold, i got it to work
i have no idea if its because i have those apps installed but i dragged my Games folder with all the games over via the shared folder (unix) to the Macintosh HD and the games had the proper icons (no white image anymore) and i was able to open them up.

only problem is, some games won't load, some games load and then can't quit, things like that

do you have similar experiences?

Some, yeah. From what I've seen it can be a mixed bag of results even under optimal conditions. Sometimes an app needs to run in a certain color depth and sometimes it requires a newer or even older set of OS components. It helps to dumpster dive through the internet and learn as much as you can about the software you're trying to run, which can be difficult sometimes due to the vintage.

@briandamico if you get a hold of games on cd that work on the older os7.53-8.1 and dont require a power mac, you can actually run them on the pi in the basilisk program. I would update to 8.0, then to 8.1.

I forget, do you run multiple OS images, or did you settle on one version that you're happy with?
