        @obsidianspider Operation C (Gameboy)

        operation_c

It's a little easier than the Contra NES version and has cheevos The "funny" (and hard) one is "Tactical Pacifist Action: Clear the game with less than 60,000 Points without using a continue"

2 games on the Colecovision mainly.

Beamrider, a classic 1983 shoot em up.

and Zombie Near a 2011 homebrew from the guy who wrote the CoolCV emulator.

veerrry nice. I was unaware of 'Zombie Near'. It looks amazing. Are you enjoying it?

@mediamogul Yeah, it's really playable and great fun. Trying to convince the GF to play 2 player but she'd rather play Seven Days to Die...

I'm having a bit of a love affair with Colecovision these days.

It's a great system. If it hadn't had been for the North American video game crash of '83, it would have easily dominated the market. Nintendo is even said to have used it as the high-watermark example when designing the NES.

Looks like I'll be playing some 'Zombie Near' this week to break up my 'Famicom Wars' play-through, which has proven to be extremely fun, but very time consuming. Some of the later and larger maps can take almost an hour for a single turn after proper planning and troop deployment. This was streamlined quite a bit in the 'Advance Wars' series, but the addictive quality at it's core keeps me coming back to this original entry regardless.

@mediamogul There are a few versions in github for Zombie Near I have been mostly playing the "Megacart" version, it's sort of the expanded "deluxe version". Let me know what you think.
I assume you have played "Princess Quest" another of Oscar's great games. Sort of a Ghosts 'n' Goblins clone.

Thanks for the heads up. I had grabbed the latest 32k version.

I have indeed. It's always a go-to when I'm browsing through my ColecoVision games.

I'm running through Zelda: LTTP on SNES for the hundredth time (it seems). It's a game I always seem to revisit every 5-10 years. I still can't keep track of all the heart piece locations and some of the items, so it's like a challenge to remember it all each time. :)

I really enjoy the PC version of 7 Day to Die co-op but I'll have to try Zombie Near co-op!

Neverwinter Nights: Hoards of the Underdark... really would have loved to see another campaign quest like this one. The world in this game is so immersive, I don't think it will ever be matched, and I'll probably go back to it forever.

Try to get a good deal on eBay (OS X) has been a real pain this week.

I'm still playing through Mother (GBA fan translation). Even with the Easy Ring it's still pretty grind heavy, but the humor makes up for it.

Megaman X4 (PSX) is fun. It's the first Playstation Megaman game I've tried, and while it has a load of dialogue, it's still got that classic Capcom feel to it.

Yeah! They changed the music and it is all out a good super mario hack that looks like mario 3 with super mario world mechanics

I think I'm going to give Pokemon another try. I've tried repeatedly in the past, and just couldn't get into it, but Pokemon Blue (GB) is going to be my lunch time game for the week.

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way: the core of Pokémon is about wild animals being enslaved and then pitted against each other in violent combat for both fun and profit.

                                        http://io9.gizmodo.com/pokemon-is-one-of-the-creepiest-dystopian-societies-eve-1677752802

I think this is what always bugged me the most about Pokemon.

@lilbud There's also a whole lot of this:

if you don't immediately develop a desire to collect critters and battle them against one another, there's not a whole lot to drive you forward. It's why I've never been able to stay interested in these games.
