      Hi everyone,

I just started playing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete for PS1, which has important anime video sequences. Emulation works, however the anime video appears very pixelated and blurry. It's almost as though they were rendered at a low resolution and then expanded. Does anyone know how to fix this?

that's right :) ps1 and cd video in general is very low quality. emulation can't improve on that. you could use shaders, but they distort rather than neccesarily 'improve'

@dankcushions I was using lr-beetle hw on my PC with the Vulkan renderer and it made me laugh to see the low quality prerendered video compared to the game with pgxp and Vulkan. Huge difference.

@herb_fargus haha! it makes me laugh how these pre-rendered cut-scenes that were once seen as state-of-the-art toy-story grade stuff, are now worse than any old phone in the last 5 years could put out, as well as being filmed on a potato :)

The easiest way to improve the look of PS1 video is to hook your Pi to a CRT TV! It'll look as good as it did in 1998!

@Capeman As good as it did, for sure, but never as good as you remember it through the nostalgia filter :)
I tried to play again some old PSX 3D games that stunned the young me with beautiful graphics. All I can see now most of the time is a kind of giant pixel gang bang. :(
