HI I've been researching and trying various options to enable my gamepad as a joystick for SDLPoP. Including SDL updates, reinstall of package, and Xboxdrv options. When I press control J, joystick is not recognized. All other ports and emulators work. I'm at wits end and could use some help on how to set this up, or troubleshoot. I appreciate the help!

Pi Model or other hardware: 3 Model B
Power Supply used: Output 5V DC 2.5A Regulated Input 100V to 240V AC
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest):
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website v 4.2
      USB Devices connected: USB Gamepad,
Controller used: Generic SNES USB controller
Error messages received: Joy Stick not recognized when pressing Ctrl J.
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
      Emulator: SDLPoP v 1.17
      How to replicate the problem
