Hi. Does anyone know if it's possible to display marquees alongside screenshots in detailed view or a way to use video view without any videos would be an okay workaround? The idea of being able to display an extra metadata image is really nice but I don't personally want to use video previews.

@ruckage Currently, there is not. If there is demand for it, I could look into adding it. It shouldn't be too difficult. You can use video view without any videos. In the "UI Settings" menu there is a "Gamelist View Style" option. This will allow you to force ES to use a particular view for all of the gamelist views. When you add video support to your theme, you can tell the video element to show the image if no video is present.

Thanks fro the reply. for some reason I thought if no videos were present then video view wouldn't work at all but if that's not the case then that will be perfectly fine for my needs.

Regarding metadata images, access to more metadata images would be very beneficial, I know I'm not the only person who would like to see this.
Ideally we should have the option to show previews, titles, boxart, marquees, flyers, carts, and probably others I can't remember. It would allow for much more interesting layouts and would negate the need for people to use external software to create composite images.

I agree and there has been some discussion on the best way to add additional metadata images. The problem with adding additional images, is that the way ES works currently, everything is rendered regardless of if a theme wants it. The idea being explored is to make theme rendering more dynamic so that it only creates and renders the elements that the theme wants. However, this is really just conceptual at the this point.

I completely understand, things like this are always easier to ask for than they are to implement - especially when the original code was never designed for it. Thanks for all the work you and the other devs are currently putting into ES, it is appreciated.

@jdrassa @ruckage this would be an excellent addition! I believe we had this discussion about a month ago and having the ability to have wheel art and also possibly thumbnail to allow box art, 2wheel art, screenshot all to be displayed!

@jdrassa, I know this is a huge undertaking and not an immediate request, but if you do look into this, making the md have a true false option would be excellent. I am going to release a "special edition" of my theme so that users with wheel art in there "marquee" line of the gamelist can see that instead of the second system logo. If the md_marquee tag was True false, this could all be handled under one theme release.

Thanks as always for you great work, and indeed no rush on my thoughts.
