Buttons connections
-
Hello everybody,
I'm building an arcade double controller with a kit I bought on amazon composed by two joystics, 16 large buttons and 4 small buttons. The kit comes with the USB connection as shown below:
Now, I built the controller keeping:
- 2 rows of 3 buttons (6 large buttons) for each joystick
- two large buttons on each side of the controller (2 on the left, 2 on the right)
- and the four small buttons on the top on the center common for the two player.
Now the question: how should I connect the buttons to the USB connector shown above?
The joystick is clear, the violet AL, AU, AR, AD. For the button I was thinking:
- the top row of three buttons K1, K2, K3 for each player, and the bottom row K4, K5, K6
- the side buttons K7 and K8, but having one left right set for each player (meaning: left1->K7 player1, right1->k8 player1, left2->K7player2, right2->K8 player2)
- the small buttons two on K9 K10 of player1 and the other two on K9 K10 of player2
Does it make sense? Will they be usable like this?
Thank you for the support!

@stevexyz that config you describe is exactly what I would do. Are the small buttons your Coin/Select and Start?
One thing about the side buttons: what do you intend to do with those? Some folks say they want side buttons for pinball, but we don't have a good emulator for that. I don't have them on may arcade cabinet. You might consider using them for admin functions, like exit, pause, and such.

- yes, the small buttons are this generic options
- about side buttons surely pinball is a perfect match, but anyway they can be used for wathever reason
To give a better idea this is the model (with first layer of coating still not set and with buttons not fully inserted, but is just to give the idea):
PS: Your roadcase is wonderful!!
