MY SCREEN IS BLACK THEN CHANGES BACK! I AM SO NEW! NEW MONITOR

SO.... basically what happened was.....I was moving my setup for my computer (mac) and i plugged in my pi and all of a sudden as i attempted to make sure it works by changing the input on my new monitor, the screen changed to black for about 5-10 sec. and then changed to the original input
IDK WHAT TO DO!!! HELP!?!?!
