Retropie Lite?
-
Is there a stable lite version of Retropie that does not have all the bells and whistles? I'm looking for one that can play the games and maybe choose a basic theme. I am afraid that Retropie is becoming bloated with all the add-ons and degrades the games from playing adequately without the skips and lags.

@ortsac The pre-built retropie image isn't bloated and includes just the most popular emulators. You can also remove any emulators you don't need. This won't improve performance though. You can improve performance on some emulators by adjusting the emulator options and retroarch settings.

Yeah, sorry but I'm not seeing what you have to complain about. RetroPie out-of-the-box is already pretty slim. Doesn't even have a desktop environment, and you can uninstall almost anything even out of the bare bones basic stuff it comes with.

Thanks guys!! Good to know that pre-built image Retropie is slim and could even be trimmed if needed.

One detail, just in case you don't know.
Linux doesn't tend (unlike windows ?) to degrade it's performances in correlation with the number of packages, files or installed software.
Aside from new daemons (or running apps) which may consume cpu/ram/iops, you can install basically whatever you want without harming performances.
