Pi Model or other hardware: 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.2.7
      Built From: Retropie wiki
USB Devices connected: dragon rise 10 button joystick, Xbox 360 wired, generic snes controller
Controller used: joystick for mame fba and neogeo player 1,Xbox 360 for all consoles (player 1) and player 2 for mame fba and neogeo
      Emulator: All

Is there a way to use the hotkeys on the second player? For example sometimes I don't like getting my joystick out which is connected as my player 1 for mame fba and neogeo. I'll just use my Xbox 360 pad. I'll play a game and then have to go to my joystick and press the start and select to exit. It's minor, but I'd like to be able to do it on my 360 controller which is registered as player 2. Thanks in advance.

I believe the closest setting you'll find is the all_users_control_menu = "true" setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg. However, as the name implies, it's probably limited to only controlling the menus. Still, you might want to enable it and test to be sure.

Thank you for the reply. I already have that option enabled and that works fine. However the hotkeys still only work from player one. I also use the joystick selection tool so player 1 on all emulators can use the hotkeys, but player two has no ability to use the hotkeys. I'm going to do some more digging in the cfg files to see.

@alrdtakn1 have you checked out this script? It lest you select which controller is registered as player 1. You can set this up per emulator or for the entire system. You can easily change back and forth from the retropie menu. I used this a while back, but have not implemented it on my current system, but I believe that it will do what you want, it will let you change your first player controller to the xbox controller and your hot keys/exit should work. Then when you are done you can change back to the joystick. Alternatively, you can set your joystick to be player 1 for mame, fba, neogeo and xbox 360 as player 1 for all your consoles as you listed above in your stats.
way to select joystick thread. I believe @meleu knows more information about this as well. Sorry for dragging you into this meleu :)

@TMNTturtlguy I'm afraid the OP wants to do more than just selecting which joystick will be the player1/player2/etc. He wants to, e.g., exit the emulator and go back to ES using only the player2 joystick. I don't know how to do that.

That's correct meleu. I don't necessarily want to change who is player one and player 2. I'm just trying to be lazy and not have to get out player one joystick to use the hotkeys. Thank you all again for your responses. Great community we have here, always so helpful and responsive it restores my faith a but in humanity.
