Game titles with (USA), (Japan), (Beta), etc
-
We have all seen game titles with these labels at the end in parenthesis. My question is without manually editing the title, can these end labels like USA and Japan get hidden somehow within retropie so ONLY the game title appears on the gamelist on screen?
I have no problem manually deleting (Japan)etc. for each rom. But, my concern is if the title is changed, will box art or clips still show per rom if the title has been altered?
(IF THAT WASN'T EXPLAINED CLEARLY HERE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT IM REFERRING TO)
I didn't see a rule about posting a youtube video, so if you click this link
and forward to 5:30 or 5:40 you can see an example how both are labeled with (USA).... Then forward to 7:45 and you can clearly see the gamelist does not have (USA) next to the game title. How is this achieved so only the original title is visible? -
@SegaGenesis1 scrape metadata for your games and done. ;-) I think this is what happens in the video.

@meleu
Thank you for the help. I knew scraping gets the box art but didn't know it eliminated the usaJapan etc. I just found out recently that roms are labeled with whatever country so it knows what box art to obtain. -
I think it depends on which scraper you use. The build in scraper doesn't care about countrys when using thegamesdb as source (because thegamesdb doesn't have multiple variations of covers).
Universal XML Scraper has that feature but i believe it depends on a setting in the tool what cover to scrape and not the filename. In UXS you can also select if you want plain gamenames or have (USA) etc included.
And i have no idea what sselphs can do.
