No

I dont have any experiance with kids mode. is it a setting or a different install altogether. @meleu can you answer this
Also can you help me on loading github requests pulls or whatever it's called onto my pi?
Which PR are you interested in? https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/pulls
-
@Hex Emulation Station Kids Mode is another type of Emulation station you can install, before.. thats what you were suppose to use for the favorites thing.
a PR i would like to install would be yours, haha https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/pull/172
So how would i do that?
-
@red2blue My PR is currently in heavy testing. I would suggest you not use it unless you are confident enough to report and run test code on your system. Also I have not tested it with recently merged PRs so it might have some bugs. You can test out a clean build from my branch
feature-powersaver
using meleu's script -

can you explain how i can test out the clean version? but you said its still in heavy testing right?
-
yes it is in testing that means it is ready for beta testing. The feature is nearly complete and only bug fixes are remaining if bugs are found.
You can use this script by @meleu : https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/10626/es-devs-and-testers-this-tool-is-for-you
In repo : http://github.com/hex007/EmulationStation
in branch : feature-powersaverThe script will compile and give you an option to install.
-
does this feature come with the latest build on emulation station?? so i can still use the new favorite system?

Update from source. I think that in a couple of days you can get it updating from binary. But since the PR was merged a few hours ago, I'm not sure if the binary version was updated.
-
Correct. Also, if you install this, you'll lose the kids mode features.
-
-
@pjft Oh sweet, so if i update Emulationstation from source it will remove kids mode?? been trying to figure out how to uninstall it without ruining anything
-
You can make backup of current binary
emulationstation
inopt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/
If you like kids mode more then just copy it back. -
@cyperghost thanks man!
so im updating ES from source and its stuck at 86% building CXX object... what should i do? restart and redo?
-
@Hex I haven't had the chance, apologies. Should be able to look into it in the coming days, potentially Monday in as worst case scenario.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you.

Okay.. This is the 2nd time i tried updating from source and it froze at 84% and turned off my network on my Pi.. basically i cant SSH or SAMBA and on my Pi itself its stuck at 84%
the line its at is
[84%] Building CXX object es-app/CMakeFiles/emulationstation.dir/src/guis/GuiFastSelect.cpp.o
-
@red2blue Make backup of your current binary BEFORE compiling!
-
@cyperghost my current setup is using Kids Mode, i dont really care about kids mode.. question is... is the binaries updated with this current build ^
-
@red2blue you need to exit EmulationStation before updating.
