.emulationstation no longer exists, and kid's mode not working... Help!?
-
I installed emulationstation kids mode a few days ago, but never activated it. I do know it was in the menus, but I never activated it. Today, I went to activate it, and couldn't find it in the UI Settings. After messing around for a bit, I uninstalled the kids mode, and reinstalled it. Still not there, but another problem arose. I no longer have the /home/pi/.emulationstation/ folder. The files are still in the folder it points to, but it does mess up a lot of my gamelist.xml files.
So my problem is two part:
- How to I recreate the .emulationstation pointer/folder,?
- What might be a possible reason I cannot see the kid's mode option in the UI Settings when I press 'Start'?
-
Ok, after rebooting the system again (for the third time, while I typed this), both problems seem to have fixed themselves, but a new problem arose (see next post)
-
Now I have a new problem. When I try to change the theme, I get kicked out of EmulationStation with the following error:
emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation-kids/es-core/src/componentts/OptionListComponent.h:239: T OptionListComponent<T>::getSelected() (with T = std::basic_string<char>): Assertion 'selected.size() == '1' failed.
Aborted.I'm then kicked to the command prompt, and my keyboard no longer works. It looks like some sort of code error in a header file, but I don't know enough to chase down the answer.

I was able to fix it. For anyone else who runs into this problem and finds this thread in the future.
f4
reboot (not restart emulationstation, reboot the entire pi)
f4
uninstall kids mode
reboot
f4
fresh install of emulationstation
reboot
f4
install kids mode
reboot
f4
update emulationstation (for some reason it reverted upon the installation of kids mode)
rebootIt now works! Yay me!
