I have an older 27 inch Sanyo flat screen hd tv with component inputs.
It supports the following tv modes.. 480i,480p, 720p and 1080i. I thought that I could blow the dust off it and use it in an arcade cabinet. I bought a HDMI to Component converter box and hooked it up.
I'm able to get picture and sound but have the following issues.

      1. The colors seem a bit washed out, this I think I can fix by tweaking the tv settings. (either that or I need a higher quality converter box)
      2. Some of the games play fine but others in the same emulator just return to the menu screen in retro pi after starting them. (I don't have this issue with an lcd screen)
      3. The main interface looks great, however when switching to a dos base setting window I have issues with the 1080i output being blurry (Luckily I'm familiar enough with the different settings that I can muddle my way through them.

I thought this would be a great output monitor for the arcade games, but was curious if anyone could clue me in on any settings and tips they may have on setting up retropie to take advantage of this slightly old but hopefully capable monitor. I'm sure someone out there has had to try something similar.

      Thanks

A little update to my own issues.

        1. The color issues where solved with adjusting the TV.
        2. The games going back to the menu are not an issue with the TV, (duh) I forgot I refreshed the build and probably need to adjust what emulator the rom uses.
        3. I'll need to play with the resolutions a bit more to see what looks best, I made some progress with the TV output settings but will probably just run the options remotely through ssh to adjust retropie / emulator settings.

Now if only I could magically shave 50-75 lbs off the CRT! (the things a beast)
