lrmame 2003 not exiting game
-
thank you... this being my first retropie insall, is there a way to remap that to a single key?
thank you -
Just a suggestion but should use the arcade folder since you can use Mame and FBA cores and it is what i use for most arcade games except for Neo Geo i like to have that in the neogeo folder.
-
@ecks if you dont mind me asking, what will using that folder give me that the mame / lrmam2003 wont give me?
Again, i am new here :) thanks -

Again, i am new here :) thanksIt will give you all Mame cores such as lrmame2003 and also fba cores so if a certain games you would try out doesn't really work well with the mame cores you could always switch it for the fba cores.

@dunginhawk yep... when you launch a game from the arcade folder, you press 'a' on the grey loading screen, and that will take you into the options section. If the game isn't running on Mame, you can choose Mame 2000, Mame 2003 or FBA for that specific rom, and it will retain that selection. So, in the Arcade folder, once you figure out your preference for all roms, they could be switching between different emulators but all located in the same menu.
-
ok... that sounds nice... will certainly do that...
After reading last night I realized that I wont be having Killer Instinct on this RPI3 though :( I have it running on my PC backed cocktail machine, but it would have been so cool to have it on the pi. but alas it is not to be.
thanks -

You forgot in the optional packages Mame2010 which does help as well.

thanksI am actually going to build a Linux machine using this board and have RetroPie installed in it which games such as Killer Instinct and Spider-Man the arcade game run on it and i have an old 160gb hdd that i will use for it as well.
I find older APU's such as that one as well works a lot better than the newer one's because i tried out laptops with the R5 and R7 APU types and for emulation gaming seems a little slow. -
FYI folks... FOr some reason the START SELECT does not exit for me on Arcade, LRmame2003 etc.
I have both joysticks and buttons plugged in to the same ports on different chips.
All the mappings work in the ES configure area, start select as one player, and coin 1 respectively.
No idea why that isnt working to exit. Its literally the only thing I cant get working on this thing, otherwise its perfect. -
ok// i figured it out, it was my hotkey button + start, not select + start :)
on to the next thing, finishing all the clear acrylic pieces (screen cover and back cover).
Trickiest part is how to fasten these together, since I need to be able to get in and service the controls at times. I built the entire frame box and all with NO screws.. all acrylic bonding -
ok. thinks are coming along nicely... most of the games i brought over work.. tapper works on 2010, but Super Cobra does not work. Any of them, and its depressing.. its one of my favorites.
Anyway.Audio...
How do you set button keys for audio? even if its on an external keyboard.. id like to set the volume 1 time for all games and be done with it, but it seems some games are louder and some are quiet.
please advise.
thanks -

Most likely the wrong romset - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/
-
it was part of the .78 romset that I got for use with LRmame 2003. I have an older version i guess i can try.

You have to remember that not all roms will work as well because one game that i love is Spider-Man the arcade game which runs very sluggish and also for Mame you can press L2 on your controller or tab on your keyboard to see the controls for volume and such.
-
ecks.. thats funny because I can on my other mame boxes, cabinets etc... Tab is how i change my in game key mappings, etc, but I dont see any volume controls in that... seems very odd.. is there hotkey i should be using for volume per game?

You can make a binding like if you have a 8 button arcade stick you can map the last 2 buttons for volume up and down or if you use a Xbox360/PS3/PS4 controller then you can map it for L3 and R3.
Also for games like i mentioned will run slow because i loved Spider-Man and Golden Axe The Revenge of Death while growing up but those 2 games will run slow on a Pi for reasons i don't fully know. -
i do have keys, or a keyboard or whatever but I cant find where to map them... it doesnt show up when i hit tab to general settings, or in game settings, or whatever.. its simply not in there...
If you dont mind me asking, where can i bind it if its not in there?
thank youEDIT - i found that lrmame2010 has the volume controls in another tab, but i cant map keys to them for some reason. lr2003 doesnt even have an area to do volume.

lr-mame2003 is a libretro core - system controls like volume and so on should be handled through the retroarch menu, not the TAB menu. someone has explained how to set volume buttons up here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3667/single-gpio-button/8
