Hello, I am trying to connect my wiimote to my Pi but bluetooth won't work no matter what I try to do. I am using the built in bluetooth on a Raspberry pi 3
      Pi info:
Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
      Power Supply used: 5V 2.5A
RetroPie Version Used 3.6 installed I ran the update script and I believe it updated everything to the newest version, but I don't know what this would do to the version number.
Built From: Pre made image from: retropie-v3.6-rpi2_rpi3.img
      USB Devices connected: keyboard.

I was using this tutorial and I got to using hcitool scan but it just says

Device is not available: No such device

It seems that bluetooth is running, it just cant see the bluetooth thing.

      pi@retropie:~ $ systemctl status bluetooth
      ● bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service
      Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; enabled)
Active: active (running) since Thu 2017-07-20 15:57:56 UTC; 2s ago
      Docs: man:bluetoothd(8)
      Main PID: 911 (bluetoothd)
      Status: "Running"
      CGroup: /system.slice/bluetooth.service
      └─911 /usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd

I tested this out with my other SD card with raspbian on it and it does work/show my wiimote. So, does anyone have any idea on how to get it working? Any help would be appreciated.

PS if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm sorry.

Edit: I figured out that if I updated the firmware bluetooth would start working, so I figured it out! But, are there any downsides to running a different firmware than the one built into the system?

PS i used rpi-update to update the firmware.
