Screen cuts in and out while playing FBAlpha games
-
Hi, I have recently installed retropie with my raspberry pi and xarcade stick.
I am trying out the lr-fbalpha emulator with the version 40 romset. When I play games, the screen cuts in and out randomly to a black screen. I have tried a couple of games.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles In Time - cuts out quite frequently
Street Fighter 3 - cuts out less then TMNT.The sound is still on when the screen cuts out.
Any idea what could cause this?
Is it because there is too much going on on the screen that this happens?
Could it be the screen resolution settings on the configuration menu (where you choose the specific emulator to run for the rom when you start the rom)? I think I have it set to 1080p
I have a Pi 3 model B and using Retropie 4.2. All roms are in the Arcade folder.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

@wchl What power supply are you using? What is the current rating of it? How good is the micro usb?
Micro USB cable may have very thin conductors / be too long which can cause a substantial voltage drop when RasPi's CPU needs extra current.Are you using HDMI to display the screen? Try using
config_hdmi_boost=5
in the configuration file. You may experiment with different values of config_hdmi_boost. The default is 2 for Pi1 model A/B, and 5 for newer Pi's (B+, Pi2, Pi3). At your own risk, you can go up to 11.
Note that various adapters, such as HDMI-to-DVI, can also cause power loss and therefore require high values of config_hdmi_boost even with short cables.Please post all the information requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to enable further assistance.
