Outlet/switch help
-
Hi guys i would like some help with wiring for my Pi because i am planning on buying this and just a normal light switch to put on the side of my bartop i plan on making (still is working progress) but when i tried to look on YouTube for a tutorial on how to do it i am not able to find one that easy so i would like to know who might have done something like this before or if they know of a video that would explain on what to do because i don't want to mess up on my first arcade system build and also the reason why i picked that outlet is so i could power the Pi that way since it is 5V and 3.1A.

I assume your replacing a mains socket outlet with this. If so, all you will need once wired into your wall outlet is a USB to mini USB cable, but as thick as possible to avoid voltage drops
Assuming the socket is the same size as your current wall socket its a case of making sure the wires go in the same place. Mains electrics can and do hurt if your forget or even try to work with it without turning the supply off first !!
If your not confident enough to do that, I have the power supply built into the cabinet base along with other bits, and have a power adaptor on the rear cover which then simply plugs into the main wall socket using a standard 'kettle' lead. The lead is detachable and long enough to reach from anywhere and can easily be unplugged to avoid trailing wires when not in use or making it more portable for moving the cabinet

Obviously the plug will have to be for your country but should be easily available supplied with it, and as its a right angle adaptor takes up less space for a bar top and is neater with less chance of it being pulled out

@steptoe I have seen builds of people having their outlets built into their machines but they never really show how it is really done which is what i would like to do with this as well but the thing is i need 2 USB ports on it as well for the Pi and for a 120mm fan i plan on installing and of course one of the plugs i would be using for the monitor.
The other thing is i need something like the first link you showed which i can never really find a proper tutorial on how to set that up cause that is something i plan on doing also.
Oh ya and also my build will be slightly different with the option of the arcade stick being pulled out from the machines because my stick i am still trying to build is a USB one and plan on putting a 4 USB hub in it so it would be easier to hook up other controllers/joysticks.
