rpi3 first one has connected just fine using the bluetooth menu, but second one will not connect. bluetoothctl appears to not allow me to type and there doesnt seem to be a wired option. Someone out there must have 2 of these controllers connected, any help would be hugely appreciated.

I second this. I was going to buy another wireles PS3 dualshock controller and I might have the same issue, since my current one is connected without problems.

kk so i had two post for this no-one helped, its SELF SOLVED. so i had to do a fresh install to the most up-to-date retropie in this case 4.2 and then it worked. Whilst i didnt find out for certain what the issue was, i believe it to be something to do with me also having my ps3/dualshock3 controller connected (apparently they dont play nice with other bluetooth controllers). Anyway after the fresh install the ps3 drivers were not re-installed and everything worked fine. Except for both controllers register as player 1, both in game and on the menu, but when in game the software makes a distinction and it works as if player 1 and player 2. SO 2 bits of advice dont use this forum u will never get a reply and either have all dualshock 3 controllers or none, not sure if this is correct advice, but im sure nobody will validate on this forum. glhf

@tonythetiger it warns you when installing the ps3 driver:

NOTE: You cannot currently use PS3 controllers with other bluetooth devices. The PS3 controller driver disables the standard bluetooth stack. If you want to use a wireless keyboard along with your PS3 controllers you can use 2.4ghz wireless devices that come with their own dongle

@herb_fargus yeah i did see that when installing but for the last 2 weeks have had no issues running both a wii u controller and ps3 controller over bluetooth. on 4.1, however it wouldn't allow for installation of a second wii u pro controller which i found interesting. BTW i get the impression if u did want something like 2 WII u pro controllers and 2 ps3 controllers installed at once, over bluetooth. simply installing the ps3 controllers 2nd may work. But i speculate. Point is "NOTE: You cannot currently use PS3 controllers with other bluetooth devices. The PS3 controller driver disables the standard bluetooth stack. If you want to use a wireless keyboard along with your PS3 controllers you can use 2.4ghz wireless devices that come with their own dongle." isn't entirely true because for a good period of time i had it and a wii u pro working fine with a dualshock3 over bluetooth. Perhaps it was 1/2 fixed in an update, but im no expert. Still hoping to gain some further insight on this any comments appreciated.
