I have searched the forum and did not see anything related to the specific issue I am having.

All of the lr-cores on my system are behaving according to the overall retroarch setup I completed from the Retropie menu, except for lr-mame2003. It is not recognizing any of the hotkeys I have assigned, and it is displaying all games vertically.

I have repeatedly deleted the config files in every location I know of:
      \retropie\roms\mame-libretro\mame2003\cfg
      \retropie\configs\mame-libretro
      \retropie\configs\all

I have updated retroarch and lr-mame2003 from source, but still the issues remain.

I am running Retroarch Core 1.6.0 and Retropie Setup Script 4.2.12.

What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

deleting config files isn't a great idea. retropie generates default configs which are required for it to function correctly.

override configs that are safe to delete that COULD be causing a problem are found here:
        /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/MAME 2003
failing that, i think you will need to reinstall retroarch and mame2003, and then restore their default configs in these directories.

        \retropie\configs\mame-libretro
        \retropie\configs\all

        they are named retroarch.cfg.rp-dist

@dankcushions Thank you for the reply and suggestions. I did not see any override configs in the path the you suggested, and the restored configs did not resolve it either.

Alas, I think a reformat and build from scratch are in my future...
