      I'm trying to get the definitive answer on this esoteric overclock setting, specifically, what exactly does it do and is it necessary for my Pi?

      The Wiki explains it as:

      The schmoo setting is some timings known to help increase stability of overclocked RAM.

      That is all I know about it, and that's fine, but is it necessary if I'm already stable and not crashing? In other words, is there any other benefit to adding it, or is it just accepted as something that, it won't hurt so might as well include it?

      Currently, I have stress tested and I am stable, staying under 66 ° using:

      arm_freq=1350
      gpu_freq=525
      sdram_freq=500
      over_voltage=4

      To sdram_schmoo, or not to sdram_schmoo? That is the question.
