@Darksavior Thanks Darksavior. Going to overclock it and try it out for a bit. I appreciate the insight!

If I'm not mistaked, the Pi Zero W is already clocked at 1Ghz, so your overclock will not considerably improve the system's performance.
For GBA, use lr-gpsp or gpsp as emulators, for SNES, use pisnes as emulator - this should get perform better on the Pi Zero W.

@chaosgamingx Not sure if those dirty upgrades are supported. Try again on a clean install of retropie 4.7.1 and also update the firmware.

@earthprime To be fair, there is a long-standing issue with vibration and some controllers, in that it causes a "stutter" every time the game should vibrate. You can either disable vibration in-game or in the RetroArch menu (that's why I added that option there) if you suffer from it.

If that was what was plaguing you, glad it helped.

@dankcushions Thank you for your explanation! I disabled overclocking and now my Pi is stable as before. I'll try with milder overclocking next time.

It should be printed on the PCB along the edge.

If not look here. It requires a few extra steps in the way of running a few commands but you can get details as to what factory it was made in even. Like Embest, China or Sony, UK.

Thanks for the info and cmds! I'll start doing some tests after I get my retropie image backed up.

@Crush said in What tests to use to make sure an overclock is sustainable?:

@TheBattleMaster I justed added the SEGA Naomi system to my retropie and figured you'd like to know that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 runs perfectly smooth on that.

Neat! Time to check some on some setup tutorials for Naomi system :D

@doubleup_dan said in Black screen after overclock with argon40 case:

So I have installed a damasos nostalgia trip 200gb and my pi4 4gb is in an Argone40 case and it has been mostly running fine.

We don't support 3rd party images - it's clearly stated in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Start with the image from retropie.org.uk/download if you wish to get support here in the forums.

@Riverstorm said in cpu governer leaves v3d only at 600mhz at one pi4 while going tot 815mhz on another pi4:

So if those calculations are correct you're going to need 74,481 cubic centimeters which is roughly 745 cubic meters for the Pi's alone. You're gonna need a fair sized room!

That's true, but a) it's cool, and b) with a little work on the interior design, you may be able to actually live in it! 🤓

(The video's creator already had shrunk the power supply quite good by serialising it.)

@Riverstorm said in cpu governer leaves v3d only at 600mhz at one pi4 while going tot 815mhz on another pi4:

    @mitu - I like the way you're thinking

I wanted to say that to both of you guys. One thing that remains is a proper name. Off the top of my head, the rather unspectacular "MegaPi" came up, quickly followed by "ClusterF*ck". 😉

Unfortunately no success, I had already disabled the hybrid filter, and lowering the resolution even to 720x480 had no positive effect.

@nightbirdmedia said in Overclocked Raspberry pi 4 without throttling:

I still get the rainbow screen when I boot my pi so it's not getting enough power.

Rainbow on the whole screen on boot? This is normal and is just telling you the GPU has booted up successfully. If you are getting low voltage you would see a lightning bolt symbol in the upper left corner of your screen. If your power strip is good quality I dont suspect youll have any voltage issues.

@mitu thanks yeah I did a small Overclock just boosting it a small amount and it killed my Argon case motherboards BUT I do think it was dead out the box honestly because it has a fan built into the case and I never heard it ramp up on start up which it should have done, I've ordered a new case and will update everything first before even attempting another Overclock I think
