Old Neo Geo Save States

So a few days ago I had update my pi and had gotten retroarch 1.6.3 and everything seemed fine. However when I tried to load my Neo Geo save states it wouldn't work. I tried my other games like CPS 2 and snes and ps1 and they still work fine.
But I then tried to see if I could use save and load states and I still can but I'm wondering if someone can help me with why my old states aren't working anymore?

Anyone? Or are my save states gone for good?

@redbatman don't quote me on this but it's possible save states only work with certain versions of the emulators, so if you revert your emulator back to the commit before your update they might work again

@herb_fargus Well I mainly use Final Burn Alpha for all of my arcade roms, save for NBA JAM. I need to use MAME for that.
