Congrats!!
-
@buzz This is by far the best community i have ever been a part of .
Thanks you @BuZz @herb_fargus @petrockblog
and @everyone else! -
Here's a question: you two speak of your lack of motivation and running out of steam, did the thought of stepping down and letting someone else take command ever cross your mind?
-
Great interview. If there's anything we can do to continue to support the project, please let us know. I can't imagine the stress it can cause, but I have to say that for me personally, I don't want it to disappear one day because you guys get sick of it. I'm a horrible programmer, so I don't know what all I can do aside from answer things here, try to update the wiki, and make a donation, but I want to help.
I'm a big fan of RetroPie, and this community. It's reignited my tinkering spirit as well as my love for these old games, so with the utmost sincerity, thank you for all that you do.
-
@lilbud I don't think I said that - I said the legal stuff wasn't particularly motivating but I still enjoy developing the software. Sure it's tiring at times, but I'm not yet really thinking to pack it in. I am also not aware of anyone who can "take over" as you say. I try to delegate/let others manage stuff where there is those who have the time to contribute (eg Emulation Station).
-
@buzz okay, just don't get to the point where you guys fully run out of steam and overwork yourselves
-
@lilbud Thanks. Don't worry - we can always take a break. It's just annoying when having to deal with "problems" (eg the legal stuff).
I have another project I started 20 years ago and is still going, although I spend less time on it than I used to - https://www.exotica.org.uk/ - so I reckon I should manage at least a bit longer :)
-
@buzz I didn't connect the dots, but recently I happened to go to Exotica to download an old cover tape from Sinclair User, with arcade music. I remembered it from my youth, and the search results led me there. :)

Thanks for that as well.
Congrats on the interview! It's ballpark a year since I joined and it's been one of the most fun and enjoyable communities I've been part of. Thank you all for making it so!
-
@pjft good to know the site is still useful :-) thanks for your RetroPie contributions! :-)
-
@BuZz @herb_fargus Thanks again for all your hard work and for setting up this platform for dedicated and enthusiastic users to communicate. FWIW, I think y'all have done an absolutely amazing job.
-
@hooperre appreciated. Cheers! :-)
-
It's cool to see RetroPie in Raspberry Pi related media, but I couldn't help but feel a little melancholy with the interview.
I would like to be able to make you guys regain your mood in this project.
RetroPie is an amazing software and an amazing community! Huge thanks for what you guys did and do for this!

Agree 100%
Thank you guys. -
It's pretty cool that they interviewed you guys, hopefully it'll clear some air from some of that negativeness that's been speculating. On the positive side, the whole retropie community is right behind you all.
-
@buzz nice interview. love what you guys have done and are doing for retropie. thankyou so much to everyone in the community for making this amazing piece of software so special...
-
really great interview fellas, you must feel like very proud parents!
thank you for all the hours you've all put in to the projectedit: thank you everyone, who have contributed to the project
-
that is so awesome. Congrats man
-
Just want to echo my gratitude for @herb_fargus, @BuZz and everyone else who's invested so much time and effort into the project. I had a similar experience of burnout when porting Android OS to legacy phones as a hobby project - including the unfortunate experience of people trying to sell my freely-available ROMs on eBay, etc.
Anyway, you've done a fantastic job and I hope it will continue for quite some time, interest permitting. I'll do my best to contribute back - if only to help reduce the strain in resolving the minor bug reports, etc. Thanks!
-
@psyke83 Thanks - your contributions have been most appreciated :)
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
